La Greta, I really enjoyed reading your post as I have been a part of such programs since I began my career as a police officer 18 years ago. I started by conducting parole checks on violent offenders and quickly learned how little they were prepared to return to society. You are very correct in that an offender’s re-entry starts the minute they begin their sentence. This is going to require the cooperation and collaboration of the prison system, probation and parole, law enforcement, prosecutors, social services and public housing. The money is out there in the form of federal grants and it just takes a little work to find them on the internet.
Ever since I was young, I have always heard someone talking about Marquette. Part of this may be due to the fact that three of my neighbors have gone to Marquette and have absolutely loved it. Adding on to that, I have met even more people that have gone to Marquette that have really liked it and are usually successful in life. I met even more people at the Marquette open house that were from all over the United States and said they went to Marquette and they hope their child will attend Marquette as well. This made me realize that Marquette is truly local, since I know several people that have gone to Marquette that live by me and at the same time it is global, since I have met people around the United States, as well as other countries that
Representation and portrayal of real-life experiences of marginalized people are often polarizing as there is a concern regarding the work's authenticity. Hidden Figures, a movie adapted from the novel written by Margot Lee Shetterly, provides an excellent pro-feminist and culturally critical re-telling of the lives of 3 of NASA’s most influential black female mathematicians during the civil rights era. The feminist lens is a critical theory based upon ideas of sex, gender, race, discrimination and equality which acknowledge the presence of power systems in place to oppress individuals based on these core concepts. The lens also proposes that when these power systems and forms of oppression are acknowledged, understanding and advocacy can occur (Egbert and Roe). As such, when one applies the feminist lens to Hidden Figures, it is seen to be very pro-feminist.
22 January 2016 Trigger Warning Mia Laubenheimer Loving someone is handing them a gun and a map of all your weak spots and trusting them not to shoot. I didn’t know that five months into my first relationship I’d be curled up in a public stairwell, trying to figure out what we had done to each other. I can’t go a single day without fearing for my life and the thought that he could knock down my door at any given time makes every second a painful nightmare, but for the sake of my family, who worry themselves sick about me, I try block him out of my mind.

In a genre as well populated as Holocaust literature, The Book Thief and The Diary of a Young Girl, present themselves both as excellent and dynamic narratives. The Holocaust was a time of great tragedy throughout the world; Jews were being hunted down, and forced to be sent to concentrations camp under the orders of Adolf Hitler. The Diary of a Young Girl, details about the hardships faced by Anne Frank while hiding during the Holocaust, while the Book Thief narrates the story of a young girl growing up during the same. Both offer an unconventional depiction of Holocaust in that they depart from the traditional literary forms.
