The United States Marine Corps is a very important branch in our armed forces. Very few ladies and gentlemen decide to take the challenge of become a Marine. No one would argue when asked if the Marine Corps is tough and challenging. A young man decided to take the challenge to become a United States Marine. It was a turning point in his life and he was ready. The history of the Marine Corps is much respected. On November 10, 1775 the continental congress accepted the purpose to create two battalions of the marines able to fight for Independence at sea and on shore. On July 11, 1789, congress ordered the making of the Corps and named it the United States Marine Corps and focused that it will be available for providing under the secretary of the navy. The corps celebrated its birthday on July 11 starting 1799 and ending in 1921. The date was forever altered to November 10 to honor the founding of the corps to help the revolutionary war. It is still witnessed by the U.S Marines throughout the world. Exhibitions, parades, drill team performances, and speeches usually make the case. The birthday ball finishes in the cutting of the birthday cake and it is that evening in Washington, D.C. you can’t exactly know when the first cake ceremony was, but the first one in the book was at the Marine barracks in Washington, D.C in 1937. Major General Thomas Holcomb was the commandant at the time and he directed an open house for Marine Corps officers which involved the cutting of a huge cake in the form of Tun Tavern. Also, the United States Marine Corps traditions reproduce a legacy of more than two eras and demonstrate how the marines are made and change quality people. Week 4 is using the pugil sticks to face up against another recruit. For many of them it’s the most intense physical combat they have ever experienced. Week 5 is when recruits learn Marine Corps martial arts. They also study martial arts culture and history and Marine Corps values. In the Marine Corps martial arts program there are five colored belt levels. In order, they are: tan, grey, green, brown and black. To become a marine every recruit is required to qualify for his or her tan belt. Week 6 deals with rappelling and overcoming fear. It’s a slide down a rope that helps with deployment from helicopters or gaining access to buildings during raids. It teaches confidence and courage in recruits. Week 7 is grass week. Recruits learn rifle safety and techniques. The following week, week 8, is where you actually get to fire live rounds after learning how your m-16 works. They will fire several rounds and at the end will earn a badge. After that they will move on to week 9 where they will do a lot of obstacles that they will have to overcome with the sounds of chaos. It is similar to the one they did in phase one of recruit training but now work as a team. They get closer and closer to graduation and only have 3 weeks left which doesn’t seem like a lot
