This is an extract from a longer interview looking at the viewpoint of minors about the impact of marital discord towards juveniles. In particular, the interviewer is interested in pointing how the marital conflict affects their behavior, cognition and beliefs. The interviewees are playing the role of a victim of the said problem.

“How does adult conflict such as marital discord affect a child’s behavior?”

Interviewees that are subjected to a problematic situation like marital discord find a hard way to express their selves. In a 15 year-old-young-lady, the lack of agreement between parents is the problem to her internalized difficulties such as anxiety. In a 17-year-old-young-lady, as the eldest it is hard to express herself to others knowing that inside the house she cannot get the affection and attention she needed. …show more content…

Why? Why not?
Both yes, it does change the actions of a child because if the violence happen inside the house it is threatening that it might happen outside. It affects the thinking of a affected girl that boys will be boys no matter what happen.

Does marital discord pre-empt the developmental processes of a child’s cognition? Why? Why not? Both yes, it pre-empt the cognition process of a child because receiving not enough cognitive-support, affection and attention of a child from parents affects the mindset that my parents will not be proud anyways or what if I will make bad decisions are they going to care more about me or not.

What factors change the societal perceptions regarding the impact of marital discord?

Knowing the fact that parents will agree in divorce sooner or later, it is hard to accept that they will go in different paths and the love and affection that should be given to a child will be lesser.
