Mark Twain is one of the most famous writer in the history of United States. His work doesn’t provide only novel and short story. During his life, Mark Twain had written more than one hundred twenty poetry. He delegated his life to use poem and other writing to speak out about many events in history. The topic of Twain’s poems is various. It’s include life, love, nature, war, etc. About love, Mark Twain said: “When you fish for love, bait with your hear, not your brain.” Following with that idea, he had a poem “These I can promise”. In this poem, also demonstrates clearly that love is worth more than money. Money only last for a specific period but love will stay forever. Physical object can help to live an easy life but it can not be guaranty for a happy life. When a man fall in love for his woman, of course he willing to do anything to make his girl to be the happiest girl in life. He was an American writer, entrepreneur, publisher, lecturer and poet. In the early life, Twain worked as a typesetter and contributed articles to the newspaper of his older brother, Orion Clemens. Later on, he became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River before heading west. Facing with the lack of success, he turn to journalism and start writing short story, novel and poem. His famous poem are: “A sweltering day in Australia”, “Genius”, “Ode to Stephen Dot, Dec’d”, “The aged pilot man”, “Those annual bills”, “To Jennie”, “Those I can promise”.
