Organizational culture; let’s begin with the definition. “A teaching process in which organizational members teach each other about the organization’s preferred values, beliefs, expectations and behaviors.” In researching which of the eleven areas that are being employed by the immense wireless communications company Verizon. The goal; formal statement sets itself ahead of the others. Granted, the carrier excels in several areas of culture change; but, the one sector that seemed to stand out among the eleven points taught in the week 's reading was Formal Statements.

This is known as Verizon fios, which is a very reliable service that provides Verizon customers to have access to high-speed internet connection, home phones and cable tv. Costco is the epitome of an employee-focused company and “is more focused on their employees than any other Fortune 500 company” (About). Costco provides their employees with a livable hourly wage that is well over the national average. According to The Huffington Post, “Costco’s starting pay for their employees is $11.50 and on average their employees can make up to $21 per hour not including over time” (Short 2013). Costco’s CEO even tells Bloomberg Insider, “I just think people need to make a living wage with health benefits” (Stone, 2013) Besides great pay Costco also provides benefits such as health care, dental care, and vision plans.
Within this critical literature review, the article which will be under analysis is “low- income families and coping through brands: Inclusion or stigma?” which was written by Kathy Hamilton in 2012. The article concentrates on the coping strategies used by single parents and low-income families to avoid stigmatisation and threats upon their social identities.
