In Hollywood films, the main protagonist of mostly all films are males showing how strong, smart, and how they are the perfect hero, yet women are seen as the damsel in distress, soft, and weak. Women are seen as the attachment to the males in some movies and they have not impact on movies other than that. The value of the women in films is determined by their male counterparts and their overall outer appearance. In movies women are seen as the same with all women are ditzy, dependent on someone, they need someone to hold their hand also that women are too emotional, yet there are movies that show women as strong and dependent. Marla is raise by her father alone after her mother died and is always next to her father as he teaches her how to play baseball. She is told by the scout, Ernie Capadino, which rejects her as a player because of her looks, she is unpleasant to look at, which causes Marla to cry and tells her father that she’s sorry Her father convinces Ernie to take Marla by telling him it’s not Marla’s fault she doesn’t know how to be feminine because he raised her like a son and not a daughter. In another part of the movie the teacher of the etiquette class remarks to Marla that the only thing that will help with her looks is a lot of night games which lowers Marla’s confidence down even more. Marla gets the last laugh being she is the only female character to fall in love in the movie. She not only shows her abilities to play, which earns her a spot on the team, but her teammates include her in the dance hall showing her their respect and that even if she is not as pretty and feminine as all the other girls in the team, she can hold her own and is stronger than any of …show more content…

It shows the hardship of each girl that has to face their own demons. whether it is alone or with help. The girls get through obstacles such as people looking down at them, their relationships with their husbands being far away from them or the husbands do not believe in the girls and with fights and problems within the team. Jimmy yells at each woman about not being good enough and that they need to train harder if they want to show everyone they were wrong about them, yet all the woman don’t back down even if he hurts their feelings they know that he is trying to push them to be the best that they can be and that each woman has each other’s back. Dottie and Kit have a falling out with Dottie being accepted in the team even when she does not have the passion for baseball and Kit not seen as a good player is not accepted when she really wants to play. Kit is given a deal if she convinces Dottie to join the team then she can play and be on the team. Dottie is seen as a strong, beautiful and dependent woman, who is cold and is always on the defense when meeting people, she is the definition of strong. Kit envies her sister and joins another team, which causes sibling rivalry in the movie. Dottie and Kit later forgive each other and laugh about how immature they were to each other and stand in silence staring at each other with Dottie finally telling her sister that she loved her and how
