Thesis Martin Luther King, Jr., through the use of eloquent writing and appeals to emotion, refutes several local religious leaders' criticisms of the his and the SCLC's outside involvement and nonviolent direct action taken to draw attention to and build support for the end of segregation, not only in Birmingham, but all of the United States. Main Points First King refutes idea that he is an outside agitator that doesn’t belong in Birmingham, as he and several members of his staff were invited to the city by a local affiliate organization of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He also asserts that his involvement there is valid, as “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” as communities are connected and affect each other indirectly.

He is famous for writing his “I Have A Dream” speech and his “Letter From Birmingham Jail.” Dr. King is known as a very high-minded speaker who avoids violence when making his argument. His work can be defined as a nonviolent protest. His “I Have A Dream” speech and “Letter From Birmingham Jail” are loaded with language that does not have a negative, violent-sounding undertone, but rather a passionate one.

The key facts and critical issues in Dr. Martin Luther King’s Jr. Murder is as followed: before Dr. King’s assassination in 1968 by the escaped criminal James Earl Ray from a Missouri State Penitentiary in 1967; there was an attempt on Dr. King’s life by a mentally ill African-American woman from Harlem named Izola Curr. The forty-two-year-old woman believed Dr. King was conspiring against her communists. (Pressman, 2012) James Earl Ray had a troubling past for petty thefts and robberies.
I believe Martin Luther King Junior was a great leader in history. According to Manning and Curtis(2012) an elected official uses power from their followers and their own experience so I believe Martin Luther was an elected official. He pulled power from his followers to fight for what was right for them. There are several examples that I could give but one example is the movement toward equality for the black people of America.

Martin Luther King Jr. has played a major role in our history, and if it was not for all the boycotts, nonviolence protest, and speeches we would not be where we are today. Before he could offer the world his services and have us believe in him, he had to know exactly who he was as a person, what he wanted to stand for, and believe in his self before the world could. Knowing yourself before giving to others is very important, besides losing yourself in something you "love" doing can be a dangerous game. Most people would say that your preteen and teenage years are your experimenting years.
The man who killed Martin Luther King Junior was named James earl Ray. The reason Ray killed Martin Luther King was because he hated him. Every one of the speeches MLK gave he despised. Ray was going through depression at the time; partly from lack of attention because he was the youngest in a poor family. My hero is Martin Luther King. He was born on January 15,1929 and he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. He dealt with segregation and tried to put it to an end. He made speeches, did marches, and got arrested for civil rights. He did it all peacefully.
