Martin Luther King Jr. faced racism and was hated by his own race. Martin Luther King responded to these challenges by refusing to jail, abuse, and threaten death. He took action under the civil rights acts and the voting rights acts. Martin Luther King also wrote a speech called “I Have A Dream” to call for equality. The lessons we can learn from Martin Luther King's life and work are dreams that have the tremendous power to keep us alive and give us hope that will help us to keep going no matter what. Benjamin Mays convinced King to go into a religious career. After getting his bachelor’s degree, he went to Crozer Theological Seminary. He won an award for outstanding graduate. He finished his coursework for his doctorate and was granted the degree for two years for finishing his dissertation.
