The Life of Martin Luther King, Jr, I have been motivated and inspired by man who tried everything possible to better the live of African-American people. Martin Luther King, Jr, was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. His dad, in an interview, said that both he and his son were supposed to be named for the leader of the Protestant Reformation but misunderstandings led to Michael being the name on birth records. He became the third person of his family to serve as pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, following in the paths of his parents. His preparation and understanding as a minister undoubtedly contributed to his renowned oratorical style and cadence. During 1963, King restated his preeminence within the African-American freedom struggle through his control of the Birmingham campaign. Originated by SCLC and its associate, the Alabama gospel Movement for Social Rights, the Birmingham demonstrations were the hugest civil rights protest that had yet occurred. With the assistance of Fred Shuttles worth and other local black leaders and with little race from SNCC and other civil rights groups, SCLC officials were able to arrange the Birmingham protests to achieve extreme national impact. King’s decision to purposely allow himself to be arrested for leading a parade on 12 April prodded the Kennedy administration to intervene in the escalating protests. In 1963, King spoke at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, bringing his famous speech “I Have a Dream.” More than 300,000 people were there in person to hear him say: “I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream … that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
