Martin Luther King, Jr.: The Great Equalizer

The discrimination that took over the United States during the reign of the highest and most influential African American to ever change this great nation was the worst that most people have ever seen. His life was led through segregation from the whites and was very controversial throughout the country at his time. This amazing man, Martin Luther King, Jr, brought about keeping everyone equal, writing influential speeches to bring attention to the segregation, and being an inspiration to young men and women all over the country. King, being the most influential man to come to this country, helped to change many issues. He helped the current equality come about today.

First of all, this prominent speaker, Martin Luther King, Jr, led an interesting life as a young boy and as a young man before he started to fight for equality. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January fifteenth, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, and then later on, sadly, was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April fourth, 1968 ("Biography"). brought about the idea that everyone should be equal. The decision for success that King followed was "Stay True to Yourself." As a young man, King worked as a priest at a local church. With his time at the church, he read the Bible which included phrases that supported his speeches he wrote later on. The phrase “Stay True to Yourself” was supported by King very well. The way blacks were treated in his days was unbelievably cruel and having King still support and fight for himself and all other African Americans was amazing. He kept fighting even after the discrimination he faced. Most people wouldn't continue fighting for anyone, even themselves, if they had to face the kinds of rude treatment that King went through.
