Martin Luther was a devoted man of God who faced many trials and tribulations. He used many things to prove to the church that their voice was wrong using scripture alone, Christ alone, Faith alone, God alone, and grace alone. The catholic church tested Luther's faith in many ways. The church had lots of power and they brainwashed the people of the church (christians) to believe the way they do and to make the people give in to their greedy nature so they could earn riches. In the catholic church, the leaders sold indulgences to the people which "rid them of their sin". Martin Luther and people with common sense knew that indulgences didn't take away sin, because nowhere in the bible does it say that. It was hard for Luther to help people understand because not many people could read in latin and the catholic church had most of the copies. Everything Martin Luther did was for the glory of God alone. He did not recant because he stood up for his beliefs for God's glory. He stood up to the church with God on his side. Without God, Martin Luther would not have posted the 95 theses and would have recanted. God used Luther to show people the truth about God and who he really is and not the way the church made him look. Now let's move on to Grace alone. We can only have salvation through God's grace and Martin Luther knew that. He was very graceful and he realized his own sin. He wanted to know how God's grace worked. God's grace showed that we are redeemed through his blood "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace" (Ephesians 1, NIV). This shows how God's grace works and that we can be forgiven because Jesus died on the cross for us ("through his blood"). God's grace let's us be forgiven and let's us as humans do things we aren't capable of
