Recommended: Martyrdom of Ignatius
The values and traditions that women were expected to hold changed extravagantly in the 700 years between the deaths of Lucretia and Perpetua. Through their respective documents, “Rape of Lucretia,” and “The Martyrdom of Saints Perpetua and Felicitas,” we can see the change of ideals in the form of expecting Roman women to do chores and stay at home, while the Roman/Christian women are expected to hold their faith and Christian values dear. Both of them are portrayed in different light, but in the end it is done to argue for a cause. Lucretia is portrayed as a humble individual who holds honor of the family higher than herself. Perpetua is demonstrated as a stubborn individual who won't turn her back on her faith, even for her family.
He applauds the faith of the Christians to Christ Jesus and the unity that is bound with love by the blood of Jesus Christ, encouraging the Christians to keep on in their faith. He then turns around to warn then against being trapped by those who don’t march into their faith. But while avoiding them, Ignatius encourages the Christians to continue praying for those against their faith. He cautions the Christians at Smyrna against boasting on their positions but instead take note that faith and love are to be their only preferences. Further on in his letter, Ignatius directs the Christians at Smyrna, to pay their attention to the prophets and much more to the gospel as in it comes up a clear picture of the passion and the real happening of the resurrection is seen.
His “Crusade for Moorish Dignity” in which he inspired workers to partake in a revolt against Levy Pants failed despite his best efforts. Calling this attempt a “crusade” draws on his Medieval philosophical fascination, but the motivation behind this “grand and decisive coup” was for the rights of workers which is a more liberal thought. Ignatius mocks Myrna’s liberal philosophy in carrying out liberal thoughts through more medieval means. He then goes on to call his plan “brilliant,” showing his confidence in the validity of his philosophy despite his actions being more liberal than his philosophy. Despite the irony in Ignatius’s actions not being typical of those of his philosophical ideologies, he does not waiver from the core ideas he
From the mind of a killer, he was trying to convince everyone that he was an altered man. Most men want to leave behind a legacy and Nobles didn’t want to leave behind the legacy of being a killer. Nobles thought if he changed and became a reformed Catholic that his death would leave behind the impression of a rehabilitated man, a different man, even a respectable man. The fact is, he was a killer that killed two women and stabbed a man. His footprint in history is that of a
The Martyrdom of St. Perpetua and Felicity, which is a story about Perpetua’s trial due to her beliefs in Christianity, was written in the year 203 by three different authors, Perpetua, Satururs, and an unknown narrator. Perpetua wrote her part of the story while she was in prison, perhaps to give others the strength to stand up for what they believe in. Perpetua lived in Carthage under the Roman Empire, where the paterfamilias meant everything. The paterfamilias is the father of the household; they have the ability to take away the life of their children which means they have complete control over them. However, in The Martyrdom of St. Perpetua and Felicity, Perpetua disobeys her father.
Back then there are many religious statues, and the structure was very different. During this early Christian era, one new thing that was surprising; that the one person who has a lot of power was the Bishop. In the Early Christian Writing book, it demonstrates Ignatius’s letters too many churches, people, and even to the city of Rome. Mainly what Ignatius wrote about his letters were how important the Bishops were. Therefore for Ignatius in his letter to the Romans, demonstrate that the bishop is the most important person during these Christian times to teach them the right teaching of Christ.

The Lord could have used a man who had followed the ways of Christianity all his life to revitalize monasticism in Italy. Instead, He enacted a change in the amoral young Nilus, whose sinful ways had just caught up to him. God never works in ways humans would expect. The greatest propagator of Christianity, Saint Paul began as a strict Pharisee who would arrest professors of Christianity. The same could be said of Saint Nilus; no one who knew him as a young man could possible fathom him as a Saint of the Catholic Church.
Like Saint Augustine in the sixth century, Pope Gregory VII tried to reform the church in the eleventh century. During his first synod in 1074 C.E., Gregory " decreed that no one could be admitted to orders without a vow of celibacy and that the laity was forbidden to attend the services of an unchaste priest, deacon, or subdeacon. " This statement stemmed from the pope 's ability of his plenitudo potestatis or fullness of power. The pope would have this authority, because the position of the pope marks a lineage that is supposed to lead back to St. Peter, who the Christian religion was built on. If an individual did not follow Gregory 's decrees, they would receive escalating punishments.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Essay Shortly after the conclusion of the Civil War which resulted in over 620,000 deaths, the reeling United States of America created the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor the soldiers who passed during service to their country. The monument symbolizes that there is no American who dies in battle that goes unforgotten. I personally have never gotten the privilege to visit the cemetery, but I have had the opportunity to see other monuments such as, the WWII Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial.

Diocletian tormented many of the Christians until they perished (Alchin). After about three hundred years, it became easier for the Christians. Constantine, the emperor of Rome at the time, converted to Christianity. This resulted in the end of the persecutions and the beginning of Christendom. In the year 313, Constantine issued to Edict of Milan.
Christianity was born on the base of Christ’s blood and it grows on the base of the martyr’s blood. There are countless martyrs throughout the centuries and the persecution gets more and more severe. In The Jesuit Relations and Allied Documents, Christophe Regnaut describes how the French Jesuit Fathers came to “New France” (Canada), and many became martyrs, and contributed to the growth of Christianity in Canada. Fathers who lived among the Hurons, Jean de Breboeuf, Gabriel L’Alemant, Charles Garnier, and Noel Chabanel, were evangelizing Native Americans. Regnaut describes the Hurons natives and the Fathers were captured by Iroquois natives when the war broke out in1649 (p. 255).
My first prescribed glasses was born on March 10th, 2009. After a long process of creating the lenses, the grinding process of the prescribed lenses, coating for UV protecting and fitting into the frame, was it delivered to its rightful owner. Since February, I have realized my eyesight deteriorating. I was unable to read words far away and had to sit closer to the board at school, so that I could at least see the teacher’s explanations.
