Moreover, journal entries from the queen herself indicate that even she did not see herself as rising above her station. Mary writes that she is “so little fit” for government affairs, and that “I do not know when I ought to speak and when not” during her council sessions. Despite the extraordinary power that Mary had, and often times yielded, her writing suggests that she still conceived of herself within the confines of traditional feminine ideals, which included not having an appetite for government business and a mouth that knows when to be silent and when to be used. Despite her active role in ecclesiastical appointments and involvement in government while William was away in military campaigns, Mary II obediently retired from politics

Much like Wells, Florence Kelley used unorthodox methods in her attempt to address social issues created by industrialization and urbanization. Dissimilarly, Kelley, like other white middle-class women of the time, was afforded the opportunity to seek higher education. Through College, Kelley found the emerging field of the social sciences, significantly impacting the way she strategized towards social reform and legislation . Two of her greatest victories came while working as the Secretary of the National Consumers’ League. In the case of Muller v. Oregon, instead of using legal precedent as grounds for the decision, Kelley had her research director compile sociological data from outside of the case itself setting a revolutionary standard
A few cases stood out of the hundreds due to the effect they had on the practice of execution. One case that stood out was that of Mary Surratt on July 7, 1865 for her involvement in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. She was the first female to be executed under Federal jurisdiction and this execution was well photographed (American female hangings 1632 to 1937, n.d.). The process of executing a women led to some logistical problem for the executioner with him not knowing how to tie her feet together. Once the floor dropped out from underneath her she died immediately.

Finally, A detective has to able to control their emotions. Mariana was very calm from what the narrator makes aware of. Being able to control emotions goes a long way when being a detective. For instance, she was very calm during the accident and extremely calm after the accident when talking to Jake. In many cases, the detective may deal with issues that make them angry; however, expressing this anger can harm the case and cause witnesses to withhold information.
I was not aware of all of Dr. Mary Harper’s accomplishments and great work that she did over her life time, but I do remember being in middle school and there were discussions about her as well as national acknowledgements. This documentary was extremely beneficial and interesting to me, just for the simple fact that she is an outstanding role model for the African American community. My first impression of Dr. Harper I immediately noticed that she was extremely determined and hard working. I started to replay my education and I started to wonder why I was just now learning so much about her? The beginning of the clip started off as if Dr. Harper had a tough life and she wanted better for herself and that is realistic to most people.
Mercy seems to be very rare in today’s world, most people if they had the option to punish someone who has hurt them, would do it without thinking twice. Mary Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota however is different than most. In February 1993, Mrs Johnson's son, Laramiun Byrd, 20, was shot in the head by 16-year-old Israel after an argument at a party. Israel was involved with drugs and gangs, was tried as an adult and sentenced to 25 and a half years. He served 17 when Mrs. Johnson said she wanted to visit him in prison.
When reading the letter, the main thing to keep in mind is that this text is written by one woman, accounting her memories, and experiences. Which alters the way readers perceive the ‘story.’ Nothing is sourced, so many things could be exaggerated or even fabricated. Time is also compressed (times jumps) the letters talking about multiple days in one letter, and often multiple events as Lady Mary ‘needs things to write about’ in these letters back to people in England. Historical aspects include the comparison/ relationship between London, and Vienna (at the time the letter was written.)
