Knowledge can be Blessings and Curse A teenage girl Mary Shelly wrote Frankenstein in the 18th century. A Gothic novel Frankenstein deals with two genres, Gothicism and science fiction. Victor, one of Mary Shelly’s characters represents man’s pursuit of knowledge which ultimately leads towards the path of destruction while another character Robert Walton implemented his knowledge wisely to get benefits for the society. Mary is indicating to the society that mankind has to pay full attention to science and scientific innovations in order to avoid the catastrophic events due to misuse of knowledge.
In Mary Shelley’s, “Frankenstein,” Victor Frankenstein tests his limits and explores his curiosity too deeply, leading to long-lasting chaos, responsibilities, problems, and regrets. In connection to the Romantic Period in the 18th century, Shelley’s novel contains two ways of understanding how the creature Frankenstein created connects to the morals and values of the Romantic era. One, is the creature and his creator, and their obligations to each other. And two, the potential for rebellion due to the lack of obligations in place. Through Shelley’s work, we will analyze how specific aspects of Frankenstein’s work intertwined with the Romantic period writers’ reasonings.
The book of Frankenstein is a novel written by Mary W. Shelly during the romantic era. This novel started as a dream that the author had one night. She later turned her dream into a short story. This novel was written during the era that created a movement for art, music, and culture. The overall theme of this book fits the romantic era through the actions of the main character, Victor Frankenstein, and his desire for knowledge.

Her father, being a famous writer, caused Mary Shelley to be exposed to many different writers.

At the beginning of the novel her life parallels more with the doctor,Victor Frankenstein, but once the monster is created and we see how the public reacts to him we see that Mary is more closely related to it than Victor. Frankenstein has many elements that are similar to Shelley’s life, his quest for love, desperation for acceptance, and depression. Shelley was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England.
