My partner is Cathryn Cusano, she has lived in Easton, Pennsylvania throughout her entire life. Cathryn has a love for softball and has played ever since she was a little girl. During Cathryn’s senior year of high school she had multiple offers to play softball for elite colleges in the area. She started out having an amazing season, the team was also thriving which eventually resulted in them making it to the playoffs. It was the first round of playoffs and Cathryn was on first base, one of her teammates was up to bat.
Growing up in a Mexican household, the food we ate always had a spice to it. Whether the spice was on the side or already prepared in the food, my food always had a spice to it. My grandma’s favorite signature spice was her Pico De Gallo. Pico de Gallo also called salsa Fresca, is made from chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, fresh Serrano’s (jalapeños or habaneros are used as alternatives), salt, and key lime juice. At first I did not like Pico de Gallo because I couldn’t bear how spicy it was.
A lack of quality education is common in impoverished areas such as Baltimore, but with more funding, it is possible to provide a safe learning environment for a child. Education is a key factor in a child’s life; with more education, “the more their lives are going to be improved” (“Education Breaks Cycle”). While there is a general idea that education can only influence one thing—the knowledge a child has—it can also aid in supporting a child emotionally. One way that a child’s life can be improved by education is through support: “Schools also offer children support in the form of teachers and staff who have mandatory reporting requirements that can help alert officials to cases of abuse and neglect” (“Education Breaks Cycle"). Allowing children to seek out a figure to help them out opens a pathway to breaking the cycle by gaining better role models and allowing children to have the support they need while growing up.

There was once a boy living in south McAllen which was often referred to as La Balboa, and a sweet loving young girl living in North McAllen, these two individuals were unaware to the event that would soon be taking place that would change both of their lives forever. These two individuals were my mom and dad mom was usually refers to as La Prieta while dad was called Willi. It was the year 1995 where Willi’s friend Ray and La Prieta’s friend Cristina begged and begged for them to go on double dates with them, both Willi and La Prieta always refused. Ever since I was young, I have always heard someone talking about Marquette. Part of this may be due to the fact that three of my neighbors have gone to Marquette and have absolutely loved it. Adding on to that, I have met even more people that have gone to Marquette that have really liked it and are usually successful in life. I met even more people at the Marquette open house that were from all over the United States and said they went to Marquette and they hope their child will attend Marquette as well. This made me realize that Marquette is truly local, since I know several people that have gone to Marquette that live by me and at the same time it is global, since I have met people around the United States, as well as other countries that
As a Cuban-born woman, my expected role in society is clearly defined; my thoughts and personality have a mold into which they must fit. However, a month before my fifth birthday my family made the decision to move to the United States and in doing so liberated me from these expectations and gave me the freedom to explore my own interests and beliefs. Ten years later, they were making preparations for my Quinciañera. Due to my Cuban heritage, my coming of age was set to be commemorated by a very long and very expensive night of food, dance, and family. Statistics show that Office of National Statistics shows that children raised by single parents is high chances of suffering from mental health conditions as they would if they were staying with married parents (Adkison-Johnson, C 2015). In most cases, Single black mothers tend to isolate themselves from the world that in results effects the children and they do the same. The negative influence from being isolated for the children effects in their growing stage, which makes him/her, reserved personality (Gonzalez, M., Jones D., & Parent, J 2014.)
High School is a turning point for everyone at our age, social dynamics and education continue to change as we advance into different fields of interest. I branched into a variety of clubs to get a feel for what I may have a passion for. Entering into the Art Society, Interact, Autistic Painters, National Honors Society, Multicultural Club, etc., I became most involved in DECA. DECA is a marketing club made to enhance communication, marketing, and professional ethics and skills. I attended the district competition every year and always moved forward into states, however, I never applied myself.

Do you want to know beforehand that you are living with a crazy person, or find out later when there is a horse head in your bed? Thanks to the pioneers of psychology, the researchers who sought out a way to identify what one’s personality was like, there are countless tests that can be used to measure and identify personality type. From self-report tests to biological measures, there is always a way to assess personality. Each type of test comes with their own advantages and disadvantages, but the important thing to do is identify which test is right for the situation at hand.
Life, and especially nature, is associated with cycles. Biota is constantly going through a cycle of birth, procreation, and death. Earth is constantly experiencing mass extinctions, with five already in its history. Even basic cycles like photosynthesis exist and allow plants to create the energy they need. Perhaps the best-known cycle to much of the public, however, is the annual cycle of seasons.
Being safe at school is something that a person shouldn’t have to worry, about but it has become a concern for a lot of parents, teachers, and school administration. Increasing security in high school, middle school, and elementary school would help control and protect the kids from possible threats, as well as creating a safe learning environment and show kids that police officers are good people. Most middle and high schools nowadays have resource officers in the building or some sort of security within the school. In 2007 only 40% of schools in the country had a school resource officer on campus (James and McCallion 11). From a study done by The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice services, they reported that “‘an overwhelming majority of students and staff feel safe at school’ as a result of school resource officers (SROs) being present in school buildings” (Weiler and Cray).
One of, if not the most important issue regarding child welfare is the role parents play in their children’s lives. A major issue facing the protection of children is lack of proper parenting education. According to research by the National Children’s Alliance “More than 3 million American children are investigated for child maltreatment each year. " The site also states that “Nearly 700,000 children are abused in the U.S annually" and even more alarming statics is that “In 2016, an estimated 1,750 children died from abuse and neglect in the United States.” A major part of this issue stems from parents who overwhelmed or are underprepared to be parents lacking the proper resources and parental knowledge to take care of their children.
