Mattie and I hadn't always been alone. We were orphaned when I was only 5, so our Uncle Jacob took as in. We were happy back then, I learned shooting and horseback riding, Mattie learned hacking and how to hotwire a car. I guess we were a little stranger than your average kids... But we liked it better that way. Then our Uncle disappeared. My Aunt Jocelyn freaked out and went searching for him, her depression started when she finally returned weeks later. She never smiled or made dinner anymore, she would start blaming Mattie and I for the simplest things. She and I would start getting into yelling matches all the time. I always try to stay invisible so no one notices that I was underaged. I walked over to my bedroll and started picking things up. Our apartment was one medium room and a small bathroom for a shower and toilet, plus a fridge. We had two bed rolls, two duffel bags, a few small items, school supplies, two folding chairs, food, and Mattie’s laptop. We kept our money in a hidden room back at our Uncle’s house. All we would have to do to get it back was a little B&E. The reason we move around so much is so we don’t get caught, seeing how we’re two minors living alone. I have fake papers that get us into schools, but they can only go so far. I was fourteen taking a senior curriculum, while Mattie was eleven taking his age level classes, well, besides science and typing. I rolled my bed up and put my toiletries into my bag. I walked over to the fridge and opened it, grabbing all the food we could use on the
