Over a thousand years ago in the Mesoamerica region the culture that we know as Maya thrived. They had an amazement and intrigued fascination over the technical mastery of their intellectual studies. The Mayan’s history is rich with remarkable human achievements, as well as stories. Some of their most recognizable masterpieces are the Mayan trade network, building Cities, the Mayan number system, and the Mayan calendar.
The Mayans were just one of several civilizations in Mesoamerica that accomplished many achievements. They had one of the greatest pre-industrial architectural cultures, started a trade network, formed a number system and were one of the first to use the number zero, and created a calendar based off what they saw. The trade network was significant as it allowed the Mayan tribes to trade for necessities, such as salt and cacao, and helped spread their culture (Doc A). The remains of the strong buildings built by the Mayans proved they were one of the “greatest preindustrial cultures of the world” in their time (Doc B). It was one of the first civilizations to engage in and produce significant achievement in astronomy, engineering and agriculture. For instance, they built a pyramid at Chichen Itza, present day Mexico, similar to those in Egypt. Here, they would observe the movement of the stars, sun, moon and planets. Their interest in astronomy led to their innovation of the Mayan Calendar. Moreover, they built these pyramids in order to get closer to the Gods.

They also developed a number of trade networks that allowed them to connect regions one at a time to exchange goods and luxuries. Moreover, they created the idea of zero, their base-20 number system, and many calendars. The Mayans were undoubtedly one of the most progressive pre-industrial civilizations, creating revolutionary inventions and executing considerable feats that assisted their daily lives.

In this essay I'll be discussing all of the achievements and what made them remarkable, these will be judged as scale, genius, effort, and significance. The Maya had several remarkable achievements which included their trade network, a number system, calendars, and building cities. All are noteworthy however, the way that the Maya built their cities was the most remarkable of all.
They were the first people to use the irrigation system. That is why in Mesopotamia they had a surplus of crops. In Egypt they did a lot of mining. They found things like gold and turned it into jewelry. In India they did a lot of engineering.

The Northwest Native Americans had a lot of daily practices. They hunted to get all of their food. The men in the tribe would go into the forest to find deer or bears. Animals were used for meat, clothes, and the bones could be used for They wore little clothing except when it was cold, it was cold most of the time in the northwest so you usually saw them in layers. Many of the Native Americans had made pottery every day to cook with and keep their things in.
Throughout literature, protagonists have had an integral role in teaching the reader lessons and encouraging them to empathize. Often, authors create perfect characters in the form of heroes to create a role model for readers. Homer’s The Odyssey has a different take on this idea through the depictions of Odysseus, a king who voyages for decades home after fighting in the Trojan War. Instead of creating a perfect character, Homer highlights Odysseus’ imperfections and develops him through a figurative trip to heroism throughout the entire epic.
Throughout many years calendars have been changing a lot. THere were many different calendars all over the world. There was the ancient calendars that would use the moon, sun, stars and even planets. Back in the 1582, people lost ten days because of the calendar change. The oldest mayan calendar was the on December 2012.
As a civilization in the jungle, the Maya are well known for their architecture, art, monumental sculptures, and calendars. The Mayan religious, ritualistic culture is developed and maintained in conjunction of the native people, as well as a communication and ties to the earth and sky. Understanding the Maya people and their religion is similar to understanding the geographical location of the people, and therefore their life source. There is great importance within the items that surrounded them geographically. Products or resources that sustained them as a community, or maintained their health and wellbeing, also created foundations for their religious belief system.
