ME 1010 Assignment 5 1) If I were the leader in this story, my main principle would be to stand firm in my beliefs, but I would also need to compromise these beliefs in order to diffuse the situation. In my opinion the immediate situation would bring upon the thoughts of the safety the employees and myself. I would do everything I could to remove the threat from the workplace. At the same time, I would have the thoughts of how this situation and the decision that I make will affect the company. I would also be aware of the penalty for bribery could result in my death. All of this information would be occupying my thoughts, but I would be mostly concerned with my safety and would not be worrying about the repercussions that might occur on the business. 2) I would pay the bribes this time. In order to remove the armed men from the facilities, I would give in to their requests. This would keep everyone in the immediate situation safe. After this initial confrontation is resolved, I would investigate into the impact of the incentives that have been used. I would work out a solution to not use the incentives and still be able to operate the production line, for the continued use of incentives would only result in more confrontations with the PRC as well as violation of the law for bribery. Firstly, giving into the guards to resolve the situation is an act of bribery and is in violation of the Chinese law. This account of using bribery could be on record and could have consequences if discovered. The second risk produced from this course of action is the impact on the business. Without the previous rate of the supply chain, the cash flow of the business will be severely decreased. The result could be detrimental to the company. This risks the jobs, the housing, and the livelihood of the workers. The future of the plant lies on the solution to a new route or method of the supply
