SSGT Joseph White came into the local VA Community based clinic for medical care. When he was discussing his situation at home, the medical doctor found that it would beneficial that the social worker talk with SSGT White. The social worker obtained an appropriate assessment to assist with finding services that would be available to him through the VA and/or local community organizations for his symptoms and treatment options. When establishing a relationship with a potential client, building and keeping a rapport with the individual is key to a positive working relationship. The individual needs to feel that they are respected, understood, and listened to when the relationship begins.
I am the Lead Case Manager at Pensacola Naval Hospital and I would like to recommend Miss Traci Allen for consideration into the United Navy Reserves as a commissioned officer in Navy Nurse Corps. Miss Allen possesses the qualities that are imperative in today’s Navy. Miss Allen demonstrated the ability to quickly assume the role of Nurse Case Manager from her previous role as Emergency Room Register Nurse. Miss Allen is responsible for the oversight of 8,000 enrollees managed at the Naval Hospital Family Medicine clinic, to include but not limited to active duty personnel, beneficiaries, and retirees. In order to realize this goal, the VBA established, as one of its goals, the necessity to “Empower employees to serve Veterans reliably, efficiently and with compassion”. Nested under this goal, VBA identified the objective to “Optimize processing capacity to meet the forecasted demand for services”. Madness within ‘A Cask of Amontillado’ The belief that madness is linked with creative thinking has been held since ancient times. In fact, Plato once stated “creativity is a divine madness…a gift from the gods” (Maureen). Understanding this connection allows us to perceive how many writers, such as Anne Sexton and Edgar Alan Poe, use their literature to lead them “by the hand out of madness” (Maureen). Poe’s life, for example, was riddled with loss and suffering: being raised in multiple orphanages and the losing so many loved ones is often said to be the reason for his questionable mental state.
Hayes learned that the vast majority of the patients only used Boardwalk Clinic during the times when their current caregivers were unavailable and they planned on returning to their current medical providers during traditional business hours. Thus, patients that need services during nontraditional hours most likely chose Boardwalk Clinic as their second choice, only because their first choice was not available. Although Dr. Hayes and her colleagues had a better understanding of the retention issue, they were still at a loss as to what steps the clinic could take to attract those patients in the Chelsea marketplace who already had relationships with other healthcare providers to make Boardwalk their first choice. There are a couple steps Boardwalk Clinic could take to ensure an increased rate of patient retention.
Another fact noted is, the U.S’s current economic status consists of many vets needing longer supports and services from counselors that extend beyond traditional periods. In addition, the military offers a Transition Assistance program that focuses on post separation, employment search, training, along with financial planning. Despite the availability of this program,
Veterans are some of the bravest men and women that you will ever know. They fought for our country in our most desperate hours and risked their lives so we could have the chance to live ours. It is such a shame that they are ignored and even homeless in today 's society. I had wondered how we could get veterans of the street and back into the job world. After research I found that there are programs and methods put in place specifically to help these struggling veterans.
I am writing to express my interest in the opportunities your organization may offer me. I am currently a full time student who is pursuing a degree in Health Education with a concentration in Health Promotion and Education at Morgan State University. Throughout my undergraduate journey I have embodied the spirit of teamwork and partnership founded on effective communication skills and respect for the contribution of others. I believe that you create enduring success not because you are perfect or lucky but because you have the courage to do what matters most to you.
