Throughout my experience participating and contributing in the community, positivity and support are the two values I aim to bring to every activity. Whether in my community or in a classroom at Huron. While taking a leadership course at Ontario Education Leadership Camp I learned a great deal of what it mans to be a leader. This course, by guiding me through activities to engage and focus on education, reflection, and growth, taught me many values that I was able to put into effect in my life that I intend to include in future endeavours and in my school community. At Huron, I want to be apart of causes, committees, and experienced that will have an everlasting effect on who I am as a person as well as for those who I am around. I have had similar experiences like this and it is the something I look forward to while attending Huron University Collage. I had had this experience when I worked with the mother at Rose of Sharon community Home (a shelter for young mothers). I could see on their faces when I visit them while volunteering and hearing their stories and backgrounds I had made a long-lasting relationship with the young mothers. I had learned a great deal from that experience that had affect me whilst I helped them. Instead of the university being viewed as a place to reflect on this culture it has now and to fully embrace the consumer culture. But market driven education places increased value on speed and less on reflection. Getting the ‘product’ or certificate at the end becomes a lesser value because less effort was placed on learning for the sake of learning. As a result, students develop a ‘you teach me ‘attitude rather then one that is effortful towards the engagement within their chosen
