I am interested in Rowan honor college because of the opportunities that it provides for students to explore other fields of study. By attending talks by guest speakers and field trip to places like The Museum of Modern Art in New York, I hope to partake in experiences which I would not otherwise engage in and expanding my creative and artistic knowledge. THe study abroad program which is partially subsidized for honor students also excites me as I hope to spend a semester abroad in Germany, learning about both their culture and engineering. Another aspect of Rowan Honors that I find important is the rigorous academic program that each member must undertake in order to maintain their position. It has been my experience that the most important aspect to education is to constantly challenge yourself to be better and the honors concentration curriculum is the quintessence of that belief. Utilizing both the Arduino and Raspberry Pi microcontrollers, I was able to build three science fair projects with these microcontroller platforms, two of which were fourth place finishes at the Jersey Shore Science Fair in the last two years. The science fairs have required engineering notebooks, posters, and oral presentations.
