Personal Narrative: My Educational Journey To Barnes And Nobles

What do you imagine when you think of Barnes and Nobles, just a place full of books and the occasional Starbucks, right? Well let me tell you what Barnes and Nobles is to me; it is a visual representation of me and my educational journey. I remember one of my first trips to Barnes and Nobles with my mom. We went directly to the back where the children’s section is located, I was astounded by all the various selections at my choosing. It was my own miraculous wonderland of fun, my love for learning had started. I scoured the aisles, searching for something interesting. I remember clutching a stack of about ten to fifteen books to my chest. Ultimately, we did not buy all the books, but I was determined to come back. I will be able to excel even further in my learning capabilities. The strict emphasis on learning will allow me to more deeply understand concepts that are vital to my future profession. I love learning new things and being able to build relationships with others that value the importance of learning as much as I do. I hope to be able to research in more depth the impact that race has on the lives of people from different races. This would include how it impacts their education, families, and jobs. This could be relatable to all the things that are emphasized by the Honors College. The emphasis on being creative is something that I find extremely important. Being creative is something that will help to assist you in many career paths. Most importantly my goal of majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. Creativity will help me to assess various scenarios and devise plans to help others going through difficult situations. Creativity also connects to the behavior and science of the mind that is the basis of Psychology. One special aspect of the Honors College is the international experience. In my future career, learning about others and their unique cultures will assist me at becoming even better at my profession. I hope to use the unique experience that the Honors College provides as a stepping stone to great success in my future
