In the wide known play and book ‘Romeo and Juliet’ written by William Shakespeare, many topics are addressed, the book is a romantic tragedy to which cause may be of many thing. However, some important topics to consider would be, how Shakespeare addresses the question who or what is most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet. The three main causes to tragedies (all the deaths) to consider would be, the conflicts between the two families, Friar Lawrence and Mercutio. The first and main cause to all tragedies in Romeo and Juliet was the two families feuds which were responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt lastly Romeo's mother. Mercutio, though a minor character, had an enormous impact on the tragic events in the play. Before the Capulet Ball, Romeo had been wondering whether to go to the Ball or not. Mercutio persuaded Romeo to go by telling him there'll be girls and that Romeo needs to stop thinking about his 'love'. This makes Mercutio responsible because the Ball is where Romeo first met Juliet. Mercutio also caused Romeo to be banished from Verona, by getting into a fight with Tybalt and ending up dying. Mercutio's death enraged Romeo enough to spill blood in revenge (by killing Tybalt). When the Prince saw what happened, he banished Romeo as a lesser punishment after after threatening to kill Capulets and Montagues who would start a fight because Mercutio was the prince's cousin.. Romeo's banishment to Mantua put his mom into depression and killed her, while also making it near impossible for Romeo and Juliet to see each other. Making them invent a silly plan where both die. Mercutio was to blame, though only partially for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, as other reasons contributed to Romeo and Juliet's deaths. Shakespeare uses settings very well to show what environment the characters may have been raised in and the environment surrounding the characters like, evidence given to us from Mercutio's words that Mercutio is defined as having a lack of attention and a very short tempered, impetuous and lastly easily provoked. Shakespeare doesn't describe the trees and rivers surrounding Mercutio, but, just from the way characters are introduced in that text, the environment the characters may have been raised and live in, is better understood. However just simple sentence and quotes from Tylbalt like, "What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee", Tybalt gives us the idea that the environment he was raised in, is one of hatred towards Montagues,
