The most ideal community is featured in an infamous town known as Metaltopia. Metaltopia started as an idea to bring the best traits from other worlds, and improve upon them to build an ideal community. A large mass of land of 1,000 acres was bought in the great northwest in the shape of a giant circle. Creator James Capurso had a vision of this place where humans could live amongst each other in harmony. This was no easy task as there were many setbacks during the construction process. However, a spirited investor group and the willingness of workers kept the dream alive, and creation of Metaltopia preserved. Metaltopia presents a free educational system, an innovative transportation method, a central arcade, and a place where citizens can proudly leave their mark. Together, these systems link up and create a harmonious lifestyle for the citizens of Metaltopia. The foundation of this idea is established through the educational system. Education is the basis of creating a successful and flourishing society. The model of education is heavily based off of Edward Bellamy’s utopia in his book Looking Backward. In his utopia, Bellamy took away the expensive cost of college and made it accessible to everyone and by doing this, the society became more intelligent, and had the moral values of the culture embedded into them (Bellamy, 1888). “ From the artist’s point of view, the city is a giant canvas that inspires an act of creation” (Somerville, 2011, p. 108). Metaltopia holds this quote from Somerville in high praise, and the community embraces it. Art is held in high praise in this community, and a constant stream of expression is necessary for the people to individualize themselves from others. The public spaces of Metaltopia welcome this with open arms, and allow artists to use the walls of a building as a canvas. There is a line drawn, however, as vandalism is not encouraged and private property is not drawn on freely. That being said, Crystal Mountain allows for people to paint over public spaces such as parks, schools, the town hall, and other public buildings. Since the arcade features mostly public buildings and spaces, the issue of private property is not an issue. The private property law is mostly there to protect homes from unwanted art on their houses. Constant competitions, galleries, and events are held to welcome the street art and bring the community together. It creates a pleasant environment that makes the people of Metaltopia proud to call
