If you have recently become a vegetarian, you don't have to give up your love affair with Mexican food. Here are some great vegetarian Mexican dishes that you might be able to enjoy at your favorite local Mexican restaurant, or that you can make for yourself at home.

One of the staples of going out to Mexican food is enjoying a bowl full of tortilla soup. Generally, tortilla soup is made with chicken in most Mexican restaurants. Main Dishes

There are plenty of main vegetarian dishes that you can enjoy at your favorite Mexican restaurant or whip up at home.

If you want to go all out with the vegetables, you can always have a salad. Most Mexican restaurants make a wide variety of different salad options that you can enjoy, such as a Mexican Salad that features fresh spinach, tomatoes, cactus and avocado. Or an avocado salad that allows you to load up on this sweet green treat.

If you want to eat a more traditional Mexican dish, you still have plenty of options. You can get some chile rellenos, which are roasted peppers that can be stuffed with cheese and covered with roasted salsa, serrano and oregano sauces, as well as some cilantro.

Next, you can enjoy some cheese or black bean tamales. The ingredients will be wrapped up in a cornmeal wrapper inside of steamed corn husks.
