The Mexican culture, full of history and diversity is without doubt one of the culture I connect the most with. Having the opportunity to spend a summer studying abroad in Mexico City and immersing myself completely into this culture is more than a dream. It is certainly a part of why I want to dedicate my life in helping the people in needs today. As I have a busy schedule like most students, I always try to find some time to go volunteering. I work at Front Steps, an organization that take care of the homeless community in Austin. The organization is located downtown on 4th street and has for purpose to help the homeless to live a better daily life. Front Steps provide beds for the night. They give some hygiene products and have showers. As well, Front Steps provided clothing and basic medicines. They also have computers for everyone to use. The organization organized some activities. For mother's day for example, we had a "women party." We made a hair salon, a manicure room as well and made a food courts for all of this beautiful women. While I was doing the nails of one of them, I will remembered for the rest of my life when she looked at me and said;" your parents should be extremely proud of you, you came here from France and you still find the time to do my nails." When I have the time, I also go to the Arch in order to serve them they daily plates. They look at me with such a beautiful smile and their eyes or always shining. I also help at the computer lab.
