The book Schooled is written by Gordon Korman. The main character is capricorn Anderson. It takes place at a school by the name of Claverage school (Or as they call it C-Average). It also takes place at Garland Farms Commune where Cap lives. Caps grandma Rain gets hurt and Cap has to go to school.
The book Rainbow High by Alex Sanchez is about three boys named Nelson, Kyle, and Jason are seniors in high school. As they are getting ready for college, they have to find a way to come out. Kyle and Jason are together and Nelson has a boyfriend named Jeremy, sadly after discovering Jeremy is HIV positive and Nelson is not, this causes many conflicts in their relationship, and Nelson has to try and fix it. Jason decided to come out to his coach, but is now worried he will not get his scholarship to Tech, he has to find a way to come out to everyone but still be eligible for the scholarship and win championship for basketball. I think the author does a good job creating a story with good realistic problems, and does a good job wrapping up.

All high school teens have different obstacles that they have to overcome. The series "Sevens" by Scott Wallens follows seven teens who all have different struggles throughout their high school career but are all connected by a tragedy that happened when they were children. Their friend group was torn apart and everyone went their separate ways. That was until a series of more tragic events brought them closer and closer together.
This novel was exceptionally peculiar, which made the book nearly impossible to predict and held my attention until the very end. Matthew Quick was able to write a story I could easily relate to because of my passion towards basketball and common hardships teenagers endure. Moreover, frequent scenarios within the novel showed realistic struggles within violence that are very relatable and realistic in the 21st century. For instance, the internal struggles of high schoolers such as jealousy and trying to fit in. On top of this, it was astounding to see all three dynamic characters, Russ, Erin, and Finley develop throughout the story, as all three grew their friendship and learned from one another leaving you breathless.
8th graders should study the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton because the story, characters, and ideas are very relatable and realistic to teens. The book follows the protagonist Ponyboy Curtis as he struggles with topics like bullying, identity, loss, and divided communities, in a society where he feels like an outsider. In the novel, Ponyboy is a greaser. Greasers are a group of lower-class youths in Oklahoma. Their rivals are the Socs, they are the upperclassmen who make more money and get handed more breaks.
“Charles” by Shirley Jackson is a realistic fiction cliffhanger about Laurie, his adjustment to kindergarten, and a kid Charles, who seems to be a dreadful influence on the kindergarteners. The story is set in Laurie 's home and at his school. Laurie, his mother, his father, and Charles are the characters in the story. The lesson in the story is that lying leads to more problems than it solves and the author uses foreshadowing and word choice to show the lesson.
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
