Milestone One: Nissan Case Study
The following is an analysis of the Nissan Motor Company. This analysis looks at a variety of operational management functions and their theories that can be used in order to bring Nissan up to date. We will also take a look at how the operational management functions and reports are utilized in a day-to-day data analysis. Lastly, we will look at how Nissan contributes to sustainability efforts

The first step is determining the use of the forecast, for example Nissan needs to have a contingency plan for their Global Disaster Headquarters. Second step would be selecting the items to be forecasted, for Nissan this would be their inventory so that manufacturing can expedite the product to the customer or in their disaster plan, allocating supply. Determining the time horizon of the forecast is how Nissan would figure what they need to complete all orders for their products; in their disaster plan they called this managing production. Step four is selecting the forecasting models and step five is gather the data needed for the forecast, Nissan calls this sharing information in their disaster plan. Step six is to make the forecast and seven is validate and implement the result, Nissans disaster recovery plan calls this empowering action. It allows management to make decisions without lengthy analysis from a central authority (William, 2013). By implementing all of the functionalities of operational management they were able to prepare themselves for future events. Any of these concepts and techniques can be tools that can be used with any company.
