Contrary to common belief, Hershey’s is a very unique company. Hershey’s has definitely been a role model for all candy, but deep down, there is more. Hershey’s has helped the development of other companies and even created a city and theme park in its name. However, the company itself is not well known. It has a number of inspiring stories hidden within its history.

Chocolate Forever? Not Really.....
Originally, the idea of candy production entered Milton Hershey’s mind in the early 1870’s. He opened his first candy shop in 1876, and from there he evolved into a very successful businessman. There, he was inspired to try his hand at making chocolates. With the help of some friends and after many trials, he had perfected the peanut butter cup. Hershey had provided him with chocolate for his candy and when Reese died, he passed it onto the Hershey company.
M&M’s were co-founded by the son of Hershey’s President.
Forrest Mars, the son of Frank Mars, joined together with Bruce Murrie, the son of Hershey’s president William Murrie, to create and produce the first candy covered chocolate pellet. As you can probably tell, the M and M stand for “Mars” and “Murrie”. Hershey’s provided chocolate while getting some of the profit. In 1948, Mars bought back the stake and supplied their own chocolate. M&M’s is still one of Hershey’s main competitor, according to Hoover.com.
