Mistakes are key to discoveries because you can find what went wrong in the invention, you can try to make it better than the first time, and they can happen by accident and it could make a good invention that works really well. All the things that we use today probably had a lot of mistakes but that can always make it better.

In the story “Lost Cities, Lost Treasure” Heinrich Schliemann was digging in a lost city named Troy, he always wanted to find treasure as a little kid so when he got to Troy he started to dig in hopes that he would find something there. This guy named Frank Calvert owned a piece of the land in Troy so he helped Heinrich to find something. They found something that was very useful to track the history of the city but the mistake that they made was that they had dug up to much of the city that no one would ever be able to civilize there which was a big mistake because that was a very nice place to live. Also, other people can’t try to find ancient rocks or stuff like that because the dug up to much in the city so that was a mistake that was good and bad. …show more content…

Mistakes can make sure that what went wrong before won’t go wrong again then the scientist can move on with the invention that they are trying to build. Yes mistakes hold you back and it takes longer for you to build the invention but with mistakes you can make sure that the product works really well for the people that go and buy it. With mistakes you can make sure that the invention won’t mess up for the person that buys it after it is put in the market.
