I believe strongly that a mixed, but ultimately largely socialistic, approach is best for our economy because it could help the homeless, public schools, and businesses. People being homeless and not being able to provide for themselves is a very serious, yet extremely common issue in our hometown. Bettering the economy with a mixed approach could create more funding for public issues such as this; being able to provide its less fortunate citizens with shelter, food and clothing. As well as the homeless issue, this city has a public school issue with schools having to cut fundings for all kinds of programs including its transportation, which for many students, was the only source of transportation to school. They help give people jobs, so that they may make a living, profit, and move up in the social ladder. With that being said we should be working on attracting more businesses to the city so we can keep money flowing through our economy and help keep, not only businesses, but also the city’s residents thriving. “Capitalism is the greatest system ever created for alleviating general human misery…” (pg.1 Capitalism pro). Capitalism has alleviated much of human misery with every person being given the automatic right to work hard for what they desire, and even more opportunities if the area was attractive to businesses in a profitable way. Capitalism says that starvation and greed are ultimately the only reasons why people would want to work. Whereas, socialism states that the pleasure that a person gets from doing what they love is enough to fuel their want to work for society as a whole. “We don't agree with the capitalist assumption that starvation or greed are the only reasons people work. People enjoy their work if it is meaningful and enhances their lives,” (pg. 2, Socialism Pro). I strongly believe that the biggest motivator is starvation, especially if you have a family; but if you can help a person become financially stable and help educate them so that they may find the career they find the most pleasing, suddenly most people would have no problem working. If society could reach a level above the greed, then everyone could have a job, pay taxes, and have free government provided services such as healthcare, insurance, and many more free services, so those who need help get it and life is not unfair or excessively strenuous on anyone group of people of
