The Count disguises himself as an Abbe and returns to find Caderousse still as a poor man. On page 110 it says “So saying , he the diamond from his pocket and handed it to Caderousse. “Take this, my friend.” he said, “it's yours” “What! for me alone?” cried Caderousse.
In the novel, Fools Crow, written by James Welch, the act of revenge is shown numerous times and is an underlying theme throughout. These acts of revenge reflect the Blackfeet way of life. Yellow Kidney, Owl Child, and the rest of the tribe all show signs of revenge and each express it in their own way. This is especially prevalent with Yellow Kidney and Owl Child as they seem to be constantly seeking revenge of some sort. Yellow Kidney wanted revenge on Fast Horse throughout the novel.

One of the First lives lost in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, triggers the protagonists, Romeo, to avenge his friend, Mercutio. Romeo avenges his friend’s life, with the his own life and the trust from his wife, Juliet, at stake. When Romeo is mocked by the antagonist, Tybalt, a Capulet, Romeo decides to withdraw from the fight, then, his friend Mercutio decides to fight for him to protect his honor on Act three scene three.
Hawthorn Uses revenge to illustrate Chillingworth's decline of death. Roger Chillingworth has one main reason to get revenge and that reason is Dimmsdale, the Minister who stole his wife. Roger Chillingworth has spent 7 years of his life he will never get back just to get revenge on Dimmesdale who at the moment could care less as long as he is innocent in all of this. Chillingworth is wanting revenge more than anything in the world, His face has become as terrible looking as his soul just trying to get revenge, revenge is aging him very quickly and had caused Roger to look like a demon. To some this in an unneeded, extraneous line in the story that adds no real substance. To others, this provides insight into the characters of Nurse Ratched and Mr. McMurphy. The white whale refers to Moby Dick by Herman Melville. In Moby Dick, the whale wreaks havoc and is relentlessly pursued by Captain Ahab. In the end it can be argued that Moby, the whale, and the Captain are both defeated, paralleling the story with Nurse Ratched and Mr. McMurphy.
In “The Crucible”, Arthur Miller presents a city named Salem, with contradicting people. Throughout the story people accuse others of being witches or being involved with witchcraft so they could be hanged. Miller presents the idea that vengeance ruins people’s lives or reputation so that you can get what you want and be satisfied. Some people take revenge to protect themselves; they are scared of what would happen to them but they still do it or in this case, they accuse.
It is not really explored in the book “The Scarlet Letter” how Roger Chillingsworth plans to take revenge. But by reading you can see how Roger is getting revenge on the lovers. Simply by being a shadow over them Roger seems to get his revenge. If he is always there to remind them of their sin then that seems good enough for him. He seeks revenge on Dimmesdale’s mind, by constant torment.

Correspondingly, not all deaths are innocent, and people die without doing wanton things: to Tim, the world is unfair. A women shunned by her society for committing adultery and a mother to her newborn child, she must bear a large red “A” upon her dress as her punishment. However, her punishment does not satisfy the colony -- the majority believes she deserves a worse punishment. In contrast, an inopportune traveler hears of Hester’s transgression on the day of her public trial and decides that she does not deserve punishment.
“The City” by Ray Bradbury is a story of revenge. The City itself is an unpopulated city on a planet far away from Earth. It seeks revenge upon Earthians who killed its people long ago. The City’s sole purpose is to wait for people of Earth to come back and exact its revenge. It waits twenty thousand years to do so.

In the novel, Moby Dick, it offers an allegorical story of humanity’s dangerous search for meaning. The monstrous, white whale represents that “meaning” humans have been hunting for their entire lives, but at the end one will discover that one can do so much but still end up not finding their answer. The entire plot to Moby Dick is directed towards the final confrontation between Ahab, his crewman and the White whale.
