Recommendation for the promotion of Dr. Mohamed Aboutabl to Full Professor at James Madison University I have known Dr. Mohamed Aboutabl since the Spring of 2016, when I was in his CS240: Algorithms and Data Structures class. CS240 is a fundamental course in achieving a Computer Science Degree, as it teaches a student the tools that they need to become a successful problem solver. Dr. Aboutabl taught the section that I had chosen and he made sure to create an open and welcoming environment for all of his students. Whether, we are in or out of the classroom, Dr. Aboutabl always takes the time to answer students’ questions and makes sure that every student understands the materials. Dr. Aboutabl is a professor that I highly respect. Dr. Aboutabl creates a welcoming environment, by treating his students with respect and understanding that most of his students are learning material that they have never seen before. He encourages us to try and answer all of his questions during lecture and even welcomes incorrect answers from the students as a learning opportunity. Aboutabl’s teaching style is his ability to treat all students as equals by meeting their individual needs and understanding of the material. He truly cares about the students and their success both inside and outside of his class. To ensure in-class success, he gives us all of the tools that we need to learn the material and to gain a full grasp on the concepts we are learning. If we do have difficulty with any of the material or need help with anything school related, Dr. Aboutabl made sure that we knew when he was available, and how to reach him.
