Arguments and debates are a part of everyday life, being used to convince others to agree with a certain point of view or belief. Elizabeth Proctor makes a perpetual effort to argue during The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, while the chaos of the Salem Witch Trials continues . She employs an earnest and dignified tone simply to convince Reverend Hale that she has nothing to do with witchcraft and never has during her Puritan life. Elizabeth Proctor utilizes critical rhetorical devices including tone, logos, and pathos throughout Arthur Miller's The Crucible to argue that she is innocent of witchcraft.
Lies Cost Lives Over 150 young women involved with USA Gymnastics (USAG) and Michigan State (MSU) recently came out as victims of sexual abuse. The culprit: their well-respected physician, Larry Nassar. As supported by psychology, it takes more than a single interaction for one to draw a conclusion on the true characteristic of another. For, if one only used that one moment to judge the characteristics of another, then he or she would most likely misjudge how that person truly is. Instead, it is crucial to use a multitude of instances with another to piece together their true intentions and moral values. In The Crucible, a tragedy, by Arthur Miller, scene 2.2 should be included in the play because it adds to the development of character.
Caleb DeHart Mr. Peddicord English 3 January 3, 2023 Individual Voices In the Crucible, there are many different motifs displayed. However, the main one is that the power of an individual voice can be terrifying. This means that individuals who are not powerful and are weak can still have a powerful voice. This suggests that all people throughout humanity have some power and that one’s voice is their greatest weapon.
Individual voices challenge and disagree societal beliefs in many ways. The society in the story is indifferent and is can sometimes be really fragile because of all the events and is in some cases can be really brutal. Although the story does take place in the 19th century, it conveys the force of society through its setting in Salem, and the conflicts that arise. The characters in the story show societal beliefs through the making of masses and the opposing sides that were made through the development of the play. The use of the characters in the play help us identify the conflicts with each other and their society.

“Character Analysis over The Crucible” Arthur Miller is a commonly-known playwright, most famous for his 1953 play, The Crucible. The basis for The Crucible came from the witch trials which occurred in Salem, Massachusetts during the puritan era. Miller even uses some of the same characters in his dramatized play that were a part of the original witch trials in Salem. However, Miller made a few alterations to the historical members of the Salem society in order to suit his dramatic purpose in The Crucible, particularly Abigail Williams, John Proctor, and Reverend Samuel Parris.
In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John Proctor’s monologue at the end of Act II begins to reveal the central theme of the play: that, through conformity, people often lose sight of their thoughts, ideals, and beliefs. Proctor first exclaims, “Now Hell and Heaven grapple on our backs, and all our old pretense is ripped away.” The town of Salem is known for being very Christian; however, through the words of Proctor, one can see that their faith is a coverup to the truth. The people of Salem are sinners and are committing heinous crimes that “Hell and Heaven” will reveal in time. The next part of Proctor's monologue, “we are only what we always were, but naked now,” further expresses that the shameful truth of the people of Salem, will be revealed
The word crucible means a “container for melting a purifying metals” and a “severe test.” The word has two very different meanings. Both meanings are appropriate because it clearly shows how the characters have to show their truest self in the play. Not only that

“The human body is the best work of art.” ― Jess C. Scott This is a quote John Proctor sure would have approved of. Arthur Miller’s The Crucible depicts the last days of the life of John Proctor.
