The Monroe Doctrine was created and claimed that it was to protect all Latin American Countries from European intervention. The Monroe Doctrine was not designed to protect the Latin American countries from European intervention but for the benefits that came with creating it. The men who created the document were all interested in the presidential election. They wanted to have as many people as possible to be in their favor so they could win the election. For example, Adams was the only candidate who was not a slaveholder.
The Monroe Doctrine was an expression of nationalism as it declared the United States’s intention to stay out of European affairs and it forced Europe to not interfere in the Americas. Firstly, the United States declared it would stay out of European affairs, wars, and conflicts, signaling an inward focus. However, the United States also threatened Europe when it declared it would go to war in case any European nation attempted further colonization or interference in the Western hemisphere. Metaphorically speaking, the US built a wall between the Americas and Europe, impeding any military or political interference. Even though the US did not have the power to enforce this at the time, it was carving its path to dominate nations in Latin America
His most famous piece of legislature, the Monroe Doctrine, came at a time when Eurasia was in a state of turmoil. In 1821, the Russian Tzar, Alexander I, declared that any territory above the 51st parallel would belong solely to Russia. This was an enormous threat for the sovereignty of the young United States since Russia colonized and governed Alaska since 1784 and had begun expanding southward toward the Oregon territory. Moreover, the Tzar banned any foreign ships from coming closer than 115 miles off the coast of the “Russian America”. and claimed a monopoly on fur hunting, fishing, and all trading in that region.
The Monroe Doctrine was a major factor in shaping the United States and its involvement with other countries from Europe and in the Western Hemisphere. The doctrine was the result of a few diplomatic problems. “The first was the minor clash with Russia concerning the northwest coast of North America. In this quarrel, Secretary of State John Quincy Adams expressed the principle that the American continents were no longer to be considered as a field for colonization by European powers“("Monroe Doctrine.") The Monroe Doctrine initially called for an end to any intervention in the Americas by European countries, but the doctrine was later expanded to include all of the Western Hemisphere.
"The Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" The Team of Rivals was written by Doris Kearns Goodwin, a renowned Pulitzer Prize winning historian and American novelist. In The Team of Rivals, Goodwin seeks to show the story surrounding Abraham Lincoln’s cabinet and his presidency. Goodwin carefully details the background of Lincoln and each member of his Cabinet by painting a picture of each man's character and personality. In The Team of Rivals, Goodwin eloquently shows the strength of Lincolns conviction as he graciously but firmly led his cabinet while still humbly considering their counsel in every matter. The Team of Rivals thoroughly and meticulously narrates one of the most tumultuous periods in American history.
In his book, Ernest May sets out to show a new perspective of what influenced the creation of the Monroe Doctrine. While reviewing the writings of John Quincy Adams, May was struck with the question of why the Monroe Doctrine was crafted, thus prompting his research into the policy (viii). With France attempting to restore the monarchy in Spain and the establishment of the Holy Alliance, the United States needed to solidify its foreign policy. May begins his book by describing the events surrounding Great Britain’s offer to the United States to have a unified response to expansion into the Americas. He then outlies the major players of the formation of the policy, including President James Monroe, Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, Secretary
History Final Essay Americans were convinced it was their man-made destiny to expand and conquer the land towards the Pacific Ocean. People believed that the westward land was rightly theirs because it was given to them by God though the idea of the Manifest Destiny. As time passed, the American population grew quickly, therefore the immediate need for more resources and land arose. However, America was not the only country to prosper in numbers; European nations also grew and needed new places to colonize to satisfy their growing population as well. With that being the case, the Monroe Doctrine was established as concrete warning towards European powers to not attempt any more colonization.

She has had such an amazing career after growing up believing she could never do it. Winnie never thought modeling was a possibility for her because of Vitiligo but after a prompt from a photographer she had interviewed she gave it a try. Her modeling career took off after her appearance on America’s Next Top Model and it has not stopped since. As I stated previously Winnie is very well known in the modeling industry and has modeled for many brands such as Fendi, Nike, and Swarovski.
The Monroe Doctrine Continuation and Change on the U.S. Foreign Policy After decades of expansion, John Quincy Adams thought the United States should have dominance over the whole western hemisphere. Spain, though, had quite different ideas. They wanted to reestablish control over all their colonies in South America, Mexico, and Texas. Through fear of their colonies revolutionizing, Spain and other European countries created the "Holy Alliance", aimed at preventing revolutions in the name of Christian and monarchist principles. Because Britain's trade with these colonies would greatly suffer due to Spanish restrictions, they refused to join the Holy Alliance.
“RIP, The Middle Class: 1946-2013” by Edward McClelland is a heated piece on America’s past and current events happening regarding the middle class on how it has influenced our country as it sits today. There are many fallacies detected intended to affect people and what they do, but the question stands is if they accomplished this? The writer of this piece is trying to get across the value of the middle class and how it is not okay for “them to be one of the losers” (McClelland, 989). From the 1940’s to the 1970’s life was easier regarding school and jobs as states McCelland, “I grew up in an automaking town in the 1970’s, when it was still possible for a high school graduate-or even a high school dropout- to get a job on an assembly line and earn more money than a high school teacher”(979). He has experienced this life first hand which would lead him to have a biased opinion on the

The Monroe Doctrine was a speech given in 1823 by James Monroe, the 5th president of the United States, to the U.S. Congress concerning European presence in the Western Hemisphere. Monroe was becoming continuously concerned about European influence in the region. While the primary audience for this message was Congress, the intended audience was all European powers, including Russia, and Latin America. The events in Latin America before and after the Spanish-American War will be used as an example of the imperial reach by the U.S. The United States, ironically, became an imperial power through its mission outlined in the Monroe Doctrine to end European colonialism and imperialism.
