Evaluation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail Throughout the world people develop different senses of humor and find different aspects of life to be funny. A comedic film aims to cause laughter through entertaining stories and wacky characters. When a film appeals to a large sum of the population and produces laughter throughout the duration of the film it becomes a great comedic film. One such film is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. When we evaluate the film and look to see why it is considered a great comedy we look at three factors: side-splitting lines, exaggerated situations, and wacky characters. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a film released in 1975. It follows the journey of King Arthur and his quest to find the Holy Grail and along the way he develops friendships with knights willing to follow his journey. No comedy can be seen without exaggerated situations. These scenes only happen in movies but cause great laughter. This can be found in the opening credits of the movie Monty Python. When opening into the movie we hear the sounds of horses galloping and we see what looks like a king riding through a forest. As he turns around a bend we find that he is only pretending to ride a horse and is being followed by servant who is clanking two halves of a coconut together. Due to the low budget for the movie the writers had to devise a plan to make up for the lack of horse and developed a memorable scene that produces laughter at the very beginning of the
