Mr. Hoo murdered Sam Westing. First of all, he loathed him. This was because Mr. Westing stole his invention of the disposable diaper. On page 34 of The Westing Game, Mr. Hoo grumped, “Whoever killed him deserves a medal.” He was jealous of Sam Westing’s ability to earn millions of dollars of the disposable diaper idea.
