Investigator saw Ms. Morgan in jail at the Orleans Justice Center after she was arrested and charged with cruelty to a juvenile. Ms. Morgan admitted to doing ecstasy and xanbars while disciplining her children. She admitted to hitting her daughter in the mouth because she would not shut up and that was getting on her nerves. Dr. Shelia Thompson noted that Thianna had a forensic medical on 7/18/17 and forensic interview on7/13/2017. Dr. Thompson noted during the medical incident history Thianna makes clear disclosure of physical abuse by mom including mom recently punching her a few times in the eye because the patient was crying. Ms. Morgan said she usually disciplines the children by yelling and screaming, and "popping" them in the back. She has admitted to hitting Henry the eye before and it was red and swollen. She also admits to punching him in the nose before and letting it bleed. She said she thinks she was on drugs at the time. Ms. Morgan has a valid case with the agency dated 7/18/2015 for Dependency. Ms. Morgan is diagnosed with Bipolar and Schizophrenia. Ms. Morgan is not taking medication at this time and she is not receiving mental health care. Ms. Morgan is supposed to receive care through Central City Mental Health Clinic, but missed her appointment and never rescheduled. Ms. Morgan reported she does not know when she will reschedule the appointment. Ms. Morgan was admitted to the hospital on 7/18/2015 and unable to care for her children, Thianna and Henry. Thianna and Henry were released to relatives on the night of 7/18/2015 and are currently in the care of their maternal grandmother, Shantel Morgan. A system is a set of elements that are interrelated to make a functional whole. The microsystem orientation to social work practice involves focusing on individual’s needs, problems, and strengths. The microsystem will direct its focus on Ms. Morgan and address issues by generating an effective solution to augment her way of life. The mezzo system refers to any small group including family, work groups and other social groups. The mezzo system would concentrate on the entire Morgan family consisting of Ms. Morgan and her three children Thianna, Henry and Kenique Morgan. However, the main system that will be involved in intervention is the microsystem. The social worker’s aim is to discover the main contributor to Ms. Morgan drug abuse and addiction problems and provide solutions such as rehab to improve her life and her children’s lives as well. From the ecological perspective, it was observed that Ms. Morgan made the threat to end her life because she needed food stamp; therefore, Ms. Morgan who is the person-in-environment does not have food readily available and might have been one of the triggers for her
