Patient is a 51 year old Caucasian female living alone in her own home. The patient has a history and current syntoms of geralized anxity disorder, social phoina and panic attacks, which she takes madications for and sees a psychrist 2-3 times per month in Havasu. Patinets lives with six cats and the house environment is somewhat cluttered. The patinet is orinally from Glendale, CA., has a brother in Palmdale, CA, who is stays in contact with sometimes. Pt has a daughter in Big River, who is not supportive of her, but has three grandchildren who visit her.
This type of social worker can be responsible for informing people about protecting their environment or how to help make the environment even better. 7. After gaining a better understanding of Macro practice, in my opinion macro practice does not necessarily mean you’re always indirectly dealing with clients. I still feel macro practice empowers clients by involving them in systemic change. Macro social work looks at the larger picture and how the larger picture works and what is needed to change social injustice for all. I think that social work as a profession is meant to support clients be all they can be and to assist clients to benefit themselves. Macro social work practice has also been described as the indirect practice, distinguishable from the direct micro- and mezzo-focus and action with clients, families and small groups.
Foster the People is an indie rock band that was formed in 2009 in Los Angeles by Mark Foster. The group is comprised of three members, Mark Foster (multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter), Cubbie Fink (bass) and Mark Pontius (drummer). Mark Foster spent his early twenties struggling to become a known name in music. He became friends with Mark Pontius, who was a film student, and he decided to leave his band “Melbec” to found “Foster the People” with Mark Foster. Finally, they added Cubbie Fink, who was a friend of Mark Pontius.

When working with diverse populations social workers should possess that skills needed to help with a client’s individual needs. Since there are many diverse population that social workers may come in contact with in different environments and situations. I feel that it’s important that social workers need to be well versified and educated in all aspects of helping an individual or families. Working with blended, gay and lesbian, multigenerational and grandparent-headed families is something that has become a thing of present.
Reflective Essay: Social Work A social worker is a profession concerned with helping individuals, families, groups, and communities with their well-being. I spent a day job shadowing at Medi- Lodge of Taylor. I took on the experience alone and shadowed a woman who is experienced in her field named Jennifer Williams. From this experience I learned many things to help expand my future.
Mirco social work is helping individual people meet their own specific goals. Micro social work is personal and does not involve trying to fix large-scale issues, only the issues the individual is facing. According to Jessica Ritter, “At the micro level, social workers are often charged with implementing policies that were passed at the macro and mezzo levels” (2021). Growing from micro-level social work is mezzo-level social work. Social work at the mezzo level includes advocating for groups of people.
First of all, I had the opportunity to interview Kim Bartells who’s a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Michealsen Health Center and learn more about her role as a social work. Before I started interviewing Kim, I asked her if it was alright with her if I recorded the conversation and she said it was fine with it. I started the interview with asking what type of population Michealsen Health Center serves and she told me it was mostly elderly people. Kim works in a “Microlevel intervention involves working with individuals--- separately, in families, or in small groups---to facilitate change in individual behavior or in relationship” (DuBois and Miley 69). This types of individuals she is working with are elderly residents “who utilize long-term care experience a combination of physical or cognitive limitation that require some level of assistance in activities of daily living” (DuBois and Miley 314-315) and their families as well.
Rothman, Carson, and Madoc-Jones (2011), suggest many controversies occur between social work theories and the practitioner's interpretation of those theories are a subject of great concern in the field of social work. The importance of this research is not just academic, but important to society as a whole. Findings such as those of by Rothman, Carson, and Madoc-Jones, (2011), regarding the interpretation of social problems, demonstrate how quickly and inaccurately social workers can employ erroneous judgment based on the automatic activation of their views or beliefs. Portfolio Part B: Reflection on the overall learning within the module Prior to starting this course the MA Social Work course and the PPSWP module I felt very confident in the aspects of communicating effectively and working with a diverse range of people, and after the reading the professional capabilities framework I believe that I hold the same personal values which is expected of a social worker. The PCF6 talks about the importance of critical reflection and reflective practice explaining that it helps improve accountability, professional development and helps to you understand your own tacit knowledge and gain new knowledge, which improves outcomes and experiences for social workers. Ryan Giltner PSY 3211 2/5/2016 Weekly Paper #1 Group therapy is an integral part of psychology and like couple, family, or individual therapy there are many moving parts that allow the machine to work. Group therapy can be extremely helpful for many different populations of people like recovering alcoholics or veterans. Group therapy allows people to share their stories and engage with others who have similar experiences. When my grandmother died, I spent a lot time talking with my parents and other family members about her life and how she affected mine.
Modern social workers are frequently tasked with certain objectives by their agencies, which leave little room for any work beyond specific treatments and timeframes (Gitterman & Knight, 2016). Although social workers are bound to the set of ethics put forth by the NASW, practitioners are often limited to focusing on the issues of the individual rather than the larger societal issues that may be behind those concerns. Additionally, many social work students end up working in direct practice, rather than macro work. There is a need for social workers to engage at the macro level in order to facilitate community organization and empowerment. Critics suggest this theory may not take into account the unique experiences of each individual and perhaps key characteristics of the individual or group are not taken into consideration (Sadan, 1997).
Seven principles of social work (Biestek, 1957) – confidentiality, self-determination, individualization, acceptance, non-judgmental attitude, purposeful expression of feeling and controlled emotional involvement – set good norms for me to handle service users. Furthermore, the basic training of social workers could equip me well in handling individual’s needs in case and group work settings. These skills are useful in launching project in CCD. Moreover, I must do reflections frequently and beware my role consciously in promoting CCD work because conflicts inevitably occurs during facing a group of participants with distinct background, interests and needs. Besides, if I want to be a worker using this CCD approach, macro social work’s value, knowledge and skills are needed to acquire to facilitate it, for instance, BBO, anti-oppression model, community economic development model and community building.
