Students with physical disabilities are a concern for music educators. Classes should be all inclusive with no discrimination. However, students with physical disabilities can puzzle music educators with how to include them. There are solutions from other music educators on how they included specific disabilities and how to get creative so that everyone is included in the music classroom. MENC, or NAfME as it is known nowadays, made a quote in 2008 saying that they are seeking to “conduct programs and activities to build a vital musical culture and an enlightened musical public for the benefit and the general welfare of all persons” (Nabb 2). Just after World War II, a study was conducted. It looked into the use of music during rehabilitation for injured military personnel. The results of the study proved that music was extremely effective in rehabilitation. Music is good for positive social experiences, self-awareness, self-growth, and improved well-being. For students with physical disabilities, music increased hand-eye coordination, concentration during complex cognitive and motor tasks, endurance when pursing challenging long-term goals, self-confidence, and finally, a tolerance to overcome frustration. v A survey was conducted of Texas music educators for students with disabilities in the music classroom. The results yielded that 85% of the participants indicated that music education was beneficial to students with and without a disability.
