One of the consequences of World War I within American and Mexican music industry was prioritizing popular national music over other genres such as Tejano. However, this type of music had a new boom in post-war decades as a consequence of the improvement of socioeconomic opportunities. New music styles such as female-based duet and the orquesta tejana came up as well the re-emergence of conjunto music occurred. Guadalupe San Miguel Jr. discusses the significant role the businessmen Armando Marroquin and Paco Betancourt played promoting Tejano music. Their company Discos Ideal favored Tejano music was recorded by several local artists from Texas such as Valerio Longorio, Paulino Bernal, and Beto Villa among others.
Everyone who auditions must be at the specified audition date, everyone needs to have a short, three minute monologue (a memoized speech from a show or movie) prepared. Through my many years of school, kindergarten through high school, I have had countless numbers of people and experiences that have shaped me into the young woman I am today. My most recent experience that has taught me so much about myself and life is my first theater experience, UIL one act play. For years and years my parents encouraged me to try out for one-act play. They believed I would be a natural since I previously enjoyed public speaking contests. Because of my involvement in so many other extra-curricular activities, there always seemed to be a conflict that gave me a good excuse not to try out for the play.
Despite my passion for athletics, I have spent the majority of my high school career involved in show choir. I participate in the Executive Session at Sauk Prairie High School. Show choir incorporates training under professional choreographers, undergoing numerous voice lessons, and traveling the country for competitions. This self-disciplinary activity pushes me to work hard and strive for perfectionism while taking leadership roles in a professional environment. Furthermore, show choir allows me to impact others through my performance and to take risks.
I would like to become a Victory Viking Voice because I want to help assist and inspire others to success. From the moment the Victory Viking Voices came to give a presentation over Victory Early College to my middle school, I immediately felt adoration towards them. I thought to myself, that’s where I want to be one day. The Voices have had such an impact on my life since our first interaction. They motivated me to apply to Victory.
Throughout high school I have been very involved in my choir program. Music has always inspired and intrigued me. I decided to audition for Colorado All-state choir my junior year. I had to learn a solo and practice many other aspects of being a well-rounded vocalist. When I auditioned I was very nervous but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt of not making it two months later.

According to Ashleigh Lutz “Not only do electives help students develop their skills and better understand themselves, but they also help students better understand the world around them. ”The school board is taking away the computer science, cooking, and music electives. The reason is that there is a money shortage in the school board where they can't afford the electives. There are beneficial advantages associated with music. Students who take a music elective perform better in school than students who do not take the elective.
One-hundred and fifty students stared out at the audience, heaving after singing their final note at the All-State Honor Choir Conference. Among those kids was Janie Hawkins, a five-foot-two, singing powerhouse. All state choir is focused on learning music and perfecting skills, so when Janie got in, she received music at home before the “conference.” She and other students tried out in September, received the music and then stayed in Eugene, Oregon. After two days of practicing for the performance with her choir peers, Janie and the choir finally did the performance and had to say goodbye to their new-found friends at the Eugene Hult Center.

Singing has been my passion ever since I was a little kid. However, when I was younger, I was always shy and never wanted to let anyone hear me sing. After school, I would spend countless hours in my bedroom belting “Part of Your World” to my stuffed animals, but I refused to let anyone, even just my parents, hear my performance. After overhearing me singing, my mom encouraged me to get involved in musical theater. Just the thought of getting up in front of anyone terrified me.
