My Academic plans and career goals are to study agriculture and become a veterinarian. I plan to attend Prairie View A&M University for four years and graduate studying animal science and transfer to Texas A&M University to continue my education as a future veterinarian. My academic studies are a major part of my personal and professional growth. This scholarship will have a significant impact on my ability to achieve my goal of being a future veterinarian. I plan to attend the five-week summer jump-start program at Prairie View A&M University this summer. FFA turned out to be the best-supervised agricultural experience for me by inspiring me to raise livestock. My first year showing livestock I selected a Boer goat and his name was Walnut. . I was scared when I got my first goat because I had never been around livestock before, but I stepped out of my comfort zone. Walnut and I did not do well at all. I only got a chance to show Walnut in one local show and we did not place at all. That Summer I decided to do a summer goat camp. I attended Howard College goat camp and I could not have made a better decision. There was so many people there that I could talk to and they taught me so many things I did not know about livestock show goats. We had many classes teaching us how to raise, feed and show our livestock show goats. After attending the summer goat camp, I felt much more confident about showing livestock. I decided to purchase another Boer goat; his name was Hercules. Hercules and I achieved so much by getting first in two county shows and overall grand champion in our local show.
FFA for me has taken my life and my passion for animals to a new level of enthusiasm. Since I joined the organization, I decided to take animal classes and since then I have acquired a lot of knowledge about animals. FFA has taught me many skills. The skills that are the most prominent to me are my ability to love, exercise hard work, and my passion for animals.
