Since I was born it was pretty much predetermined for me that I would go to Central Catholic for High School. My dad had gone there and so had my two uncles and my grandfather had been President of the Board of Directors for years. I had grown up going to Central football and basketball games and I couldn’t wait to go to school there. However, in eighth grade, my two best friends at the time and I were approached by the head varsity basketball coach at North Andover High School. I had toured the high school in my town before, but I really had no interest in going.
The saint that I chose for my confirmation saint is Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. I chose her because of her story. The story of her conversion to Christianity and her extraordinary holiness was an inspiration to me when I was searching for saints. She was the first Native American Saint in the United States of America and Canada. When she was four, she contracted smallpox which left her face disfigured, impairing her eyesight, and depriving her of her parents.
Learning to love and serve God should continue throughout your life, so the church offers vital support for followers of all ages.
After this, I began going to church more often, around once every month. However, my faith journey took a big turn once high school came around. I decided to go to Bellarmine. This opened up a completely new door to me, teaching me the ways of God and the goodness of people.
This summer, my church took a missions trip to Puerto Penasco. It wasn 't the easiest trip to plan, seeing we only had two months to plan for it, and pay for it. Yes, this trip was spontaneous, and we worked very hard to get the money for it. It was a hot day when I and the rest of the missions team got out of the airplane in Phoenix, Arizona.
My Bethel chose me to represent them in this statewide competition. They trained me on how to walk and how to make friends with other girls. I was so nervous the whole weekend of the competition. I doubted myself a lot. The night of the pageant I wore my best dress and smiled the biggest smile.
And Experience that has had an big impact on me had to be when the non profit organization that i partner with decided to have an Homeless stimulation game, whereas you actually live as an homeless person outside and do all the necessary things that they do. Once it hit me that these are everyday people that bleed the exact someway i do, that cry the exact same way i do, I just knew that something or someone from my generation had to step up and make a change, someone had to step up and say ENOUGH! it's time we all start looking out for each other and not just for one another. So it just makes me want to continue to stay in school to further my education so that my future will be bright so that i may give back to all of those in need and not
I reached out to new students to make friends, I met with teachers to improve my scores, and I prayed. I prayed not myself, but for others to realize the person they were missing out on. It was December of my sophomore year, I came home and dropped everything and signed myself up to visit the public school in my district, Wyomissing Area Jr/Sr High School. That next day was one of the best days of my life. I gained more friends that day than the past two years of my life.
I have had various religious experiences in my life. I was christened at age 10 as a Lutheran. I investigated the Mormon religion while I was in high school (dating a Mormon girl). I was Saved by the Lord in a church in Dallas, Texas, and was subsequently baptized in the Baptist church, in my twenties. I now attend the United Methodist church, near my home in San Antonio.
In the fall 2014, was the first i went to Santa Maria Virgen which is the church I currently go to. At first it was just going to classes for my confirmation which I had to take in order to have a quinceanera . A quinceanera is a tradition made for a mexican teen who is becoming of age and show the transition into adulthood. At first I thought it was just this once but then after my fifteenth birthday we’ve been coming to church every Sunday.
Fortunately, a junior bible class and
But I didn’t knew this until God’s Word was explained to me through those first weeks I started to visit this church. I remember counting up the days after my conversion, because I started to see the world through Him. God kept revealing His Word into my life and strengthening me through my college years, my new work and my new responsibilities as a later youth
Before I discuss my experience at Grace Lutheran Church I feel it would be beneficial to explain my Church Background, so that you can better understand my outsider view of the Sunday morning worship Service I attended. I have been raised in the Baptist/Southern Baptist church my entire life. My parents are from South Carolina, which is also where I grew up, so our idea of Church has always been a small community with a very relaxed atmosphere. I stopped attending the Baptists church when I was 16. I chose to join Bent-tree Bible Fellowship, a non-denominational church.
