Teresa Tsagas, Engineering Department Chair at Craiger University, and the computer science faculty have been wanting to put their program online for a while now, but the means to do so were unavailable until the Preparing Tomorrow’s Technology Professionals funding opportunity was presented. The faculty at Craiger University will initially be tasked with consulting on the development and later responsible for teaching the content of the online courses. The faculty in the computer science department will also need to be concerned about the increased amounts of new students to the program, if things go as
My interests in technology did not come until later in my life; when I attended my first engineering and technology workshop. Back in the summer of 2012 I was accepted into the Rowan University’s Boys Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST) Program. Throughout the event I was in awe and fascinated by what engineering had to offer. We built bottle rockets and constructed penny bridges, but what stood out to me the most was the hands on experience with computer programming.
Georgia Tech grants me endless opportunities by allowing me to personalize my undergraduate program. In contrast to a traditional knowledge-based program, Threads, created by the College of Computing, offers a unique curriculum for learning computer science. Specializing in a customized area permits me to be knowledgeable in the latest research while concurrently learning in a class environment. Threads, coupled with the rich resources and reputable faculty, can empower me to have a real impact on the community. In particular, the People thread offers a diverse combination of psychology, computer science, and design.
Phoenix College supports the idea that the assessment of student learning begins with educational goals. Phoenix College is a learner-centered institution where all goals and operations are based on school core values: engagement, integrity, respect, stewardship, excellence and innovation. The web site has the whole page about the college, where individuals can find information about the school’s mission, goals, philosophy, see the planning reports, academic and learning achievements, leave a feedback, and learn about the college agenda and its master plan. Phoenix College agenda is directed by the Vision, Mission, and Values of Phoenix College and the Maricopa Community College District, and is in alignment with MCCCD Governing Board Outcomes and Metrics. Every couple of Years College posts the “College Planning” reports showing college accomplishments and future agenda.
I had always worked with computers but had never considered how they worked. I found the material fun and engaging. I felt as though I could create anything from the cascading amplifiers used in radios to the IR trip alarm that I made in the class as a side project. I kept asking myself why more people did not do things like this, how many more people were missing out on this great discovery that was given to me, through the instruction of the TCAT Newbern campus. During my stay at the Newbern campus, I placed second in the State for electronics, had achieved my CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Net+, through just ONE class alone.
When I examine my goals for the future, it is hard not to see Texas A&M as a chapter in my journey towards reaching them. I do not aspire to become president or an astronaut. But I do desire a career path that sets myself into a position allowing me to assist society, while being financially suitable to provide for a family in the future. The agricultural community is a field that has just that. Accommodating the infrastructure of our nation seems appropriate for my goals.

My plan is to attend a four year university full time at University of Washington Bothell and major in computer science field because I am passionate about working with technology, and I want to understand how we can continue to draw knowledge from it. In addition, I plan to attend graduate school while working in the computer science field after I finished with my undergraduate school. I want to be able to give back to the society for all the resources it provided me to reach this point in my education and continue working toward fulfilling my life goals. The Intro to Computer Science class at Roosevelt is helping me understand what it takes to be a computer science major student. One thing I learned from the class is that success comes from patience and effort.
The sight of all the equipment sent a rush of excitement through me like that moment when my first program finally ran its course. Today, I imagine spending hours in the lab (probably way past my bedtime) and seeing my name published in a research journal, perhaps alongside a Texas A&M University’s faculty member. I intend to also join the Aggie Club of Engineering where I can group with students in the same field and solve real world problems- which will give me tons of job world experience. With this experience, I hope to apply to many internships to give me the necessary prerequisites to launch my own successful software company. Unlike high school, I’m now hoping to enter a place where even if we’re still
I have been blessed to be born in a country that provides a free education to all children and I believe that learning about the world is the key to a successful life. I wish to continue my education and learn all that I possibly can. My goals is life are to make a positive impact on the world and to to be happy. These may seem like simple goals, but higher education at Arizona State University will make an tremendous difference in being able to achieve these goals. I plan to pursue a degree in business with a focus in sustainability.
Computer Science and Engineering enrollment statistics provided on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ website show significantly greater growth than other engineering fields, 22% faster to be exact (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). As a result of this momentous increase in the technology job outlook, many students are either redirecting their major or partaking in computer science courses for an advantage. American colleges are reporting that computer science is undergoing historic growth on campus; some institutions, such as Stanford University, are having difficulties meeting student demand. Alumni organizations are seeing significant increases in donations towards expanding SEAS (Schools of Engineering and Sciences). This increase of SEAS donations is directly related to the increase in computer science demand, the opportunity for technology implementations, and the size of the investment bubble that computer science companies have created.
My interest in the Computer Science major at Carnegie Mellon was first piqued while I was in the Microsoft Student Partners Program, where I met a Technical Evangelist from Microsoft who graduated from the course. I had heard from him how the nation’s best graduates of Computer Science were often recruited from Carnegie Mellon. Naturally, this keen interest sparked off by my encounter with him did not just stop there as I am now sitting at my desk writing my CMU supplementary essays. As someone who has been trying to find myself within the tech sector in the future, Carnegie Mellon’s vast ties to the technology world only serve to underscore its appeal.
College was always one of my long term goals as I continued with my education. Throughout the years I began to work harder and harder so I could secure my future. I knew that getting to college would not be easy. I am about to embark on a four year journey in one of the hardest fields to pursue. I will continue my education as a Nursing major at a four year university.
After carefully evaluating my abilities, desire to widen and reform my knowledge and aspiration to advance my career, I wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science at College. My goal is to work on the contemporary issues in the Information Technology industry and employ the knowledge to provide better solutions to the complex IT challenges. In the years to come, I envision myself as a lead architect designing systems which will get smarter and more customizable through interactions with data, devices and people. My whole life has been a multi-faceted learning curve which has prepared me to take the academic challenges of the graduate life.
