My decision to attend WGU began with my desire to earn a degree I am passionate about and vision my career involving — technology. One day I was scrolling on tiktok and come across a viral video about WGU and it’s values, stating that it is possible to earn a Bachelors degree in only 6 months. I was convinced at the fact one can start making 100k a year at entry level but more specifically in that it was a computer science degree.
My determination comes from my “why”, which is because I spend most of my time on my desktop already so entering the computer science field would be ideal for me. This program is perfect for students that recognize what the mission of the college of information technology, whom strive in a learning by a competency-based model. According to my WGU program’s mission is to also positively influence the professional fields of Information technology, cyber security , and computer science. The college of IT role is to show students to master their profession for success in the future

Firstly, technology rediness is critical to my success as a student in the WGU online learning. When an issue arises they’re here to support me, for instance; my program is self-directed and competency-based meaning I will be working independently of a classroom unlike a traditional college program. Fortunetly, this doesn’t mean I have to work without guidance or assistance. If I am having a difficult time planning my next steps, have questions or simply not focused enough, I can reach out via student email fro help and set up a 15 or 30 minute meeting with my program mentor. I would be looking for directionally support with the objective assessment I am working on, the solution that is encouraged would be to regularly meet with my program mentor to then help me answer those questions and stay
