My Experience Of Working At Tufts Veterinary School

When you work a certain profession, sometimes you don’t always get the respect you deserve. Although, there are cases of people getting treated very well. I personally have been put down many times by people who think they are higher above me. I worked at a barn at my school, I was going to school for animal science. I took many different classes on how to care for animals and numerous veterinarian classes. I have basic knowledge of veterinary medicine that many people don’t have until college. This helped me out a lot while working at the barn. Every so often Tufts Veterinary School students would come to our facilities to work with the animals. Never once was I trying to show off to the Tuft students. I was simply trying to help out and share my knowledge. The professor did appreciate it and sometimes would encourage me to get involved. I felt like this just made the students even madder. The Tuft students just had absolutely no respect for me because I was younger and couldn’t possibly know as much as them. It was really insulting and almost heartbreaking that they would treat me this way. It made me feel like, “They are the kings. I am the peasant.” The students made me feel like a lesser being compared to them. We all shared a similar interest of wanting to be a vet and apparently that did not matter to them. In reality, I was helping them out and they did not even care, I was giving them answers and techniques so that they could do a better job and get a better grade. The students did not want the help and got offended. “If people stepped down from their spurious pedestals, they might see how wrong they are.” If the students were not so offended by my help and did not care about their ego, I could have really helped them. When people act this way, it just makes it harder on
