My Leadership
Through this project, I was able to learn how to plan a volunteer day for a diverse group of students. I learned that more communication to the students would have helped will current student involvement. I learned that a lot of my leadership had the style of boot on the ground because of contacting business, organizations, and individuals through the entire process to create the best event for our campus and community.
The Effect
I was able to receive feedback from the volunteers that showed me how I accomplished my goals. Below are two testimonies from students. I was also given feedback on how well our students worked and behaved.

The “Little Event” was the first Washburn University fall service event. This event worked with various types of community organizations that hosted service sites. That created an educational experience for the student’s to volunteer and contribute to their new community. This event showed students at Washburn University the importance of getting involved in the Topeka Community. It created a positive relationship with the Topeka Community and the university.
Leadership in the Community
The nine organizations I worked with were all welcoming and excited for the event and they are excited for future opportunities to work with Washburn. This is where I saw service leadership which is one of the main leadership styles I retained through LE100 - LE300. Many of these people are volunteers or took the time that they are typically not working to help run this event and meet with me before the event to plan and see what they do for their organization.
