In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury their society is lacking three elements that our society is also missing. Faber talks about why books are important. In our society we don 't appreciate books and their value. In Faber’s society they don 't read books, so Faber is telling both societies why books have quality and are important.
Books are one of humanity’s greatest creations. They are treasures of precious thought. Whenever I hold such beauty in my hands I am amazed by a human being’s ability to write and transform simple letters into words, into stories, into ideas. Throughout my young life so far I have had the pleasure and honour of reading a myriad of novels from many different genres. In the future I hope to further expand my library of knowledge.
Books can create portals to different life experiences and encourage reading. A few schools and libraries have challenged the educational value of some books, however, therefore leading them to eventually be prohibited in a particular place. Each reason may be different depending on the book and the location of the exclusions. Books are icons of literature and their value should outshine the occasionally offensive topic. I cannot remember exactly when I first learned to read. I image it would have began during my early school years. I was never or have ever been passionate about reading, however I did like my mum reading books to me at bed time as a child. I grew up in Liverpool, England were reading was never a priority. The only thing I liked to do when I was younger was play football (Soccer) and that’s exactly what I did whenever I had the opportunity to do so.
At times when I read there are words that I don’t quite understand. When this happens I look up the word and see how I could use it. This also goes back to my writing, if I find a word in a book that I have read I can add it to my writing to improve my writing skills. When I see the effect of reading on my knowledge it makes me proud of myself because I used to get teased for always reading, but that didn’t matter to me because , in the end, I knew that reading would help me. All those people that teased me for always reading were probably envious of how much knowledge that I could acquire from just reading one book.
Today the books that always manage to get my attention are usually the books based on true events. My earliest memory of being read to isn’t necessarily being read to by my parents but being read to by teachers. Both my parents were always working, so they never had time to read to me. I didn’t have any older siblings to help me so when I started school, it was the first time I was exposed to reading.
Books I think are powerful. Books contain so much more than just the story it 's a mindset, and by reading different books, I feel we can be alike in some ways but completely different from others. We will always have likes and dislikes, but once we start to read a book I think we can go in with an open mind set and when we finish, or if we don 't we have are own opinion.
