I remember my greatest joy during childhood was going to the bookstore with my mom. My parents were always strict on what I could and couldn’t get when I was a child, but not with books. I could almost always bring home any book, as many as I could whenever going to the bookstore. The question why I could buy so many books never crossed my mind back then. As a kid, I was just so happy and excited with my new books, so I never bother to wonder. Not until very later in my life, I prompted that question to my mom, and her answer was: “Because books bring you knowledge. And knowledge helps you move towards in life. I won’t give you everything you want. But I will always give you all the assistance you need for your journey to knowledge. That will be your most powerful weapon.” And she was right. The books were, and still are my treasures. Growing up in a small peaceful city, my connection to the big outside world is everything written on those pages. I learnt about the science, the technology, the history, the beauty in different cultures, all starting from the Sundays reading my books by my bedroom window. It’s where my passions for traveling, for seeing the world, for learning new things and helping people all started. So why am I mentioning all of these childhood memories? The theme of the production is 21st century breakthrough. What does my love for books have to do with this?
