Connections to My Marketing Major The music industry has always favored profits, whether it is to sell as much merchandise as humanly possible, to change a group or artists look to look a certain desirable way, or to churn out similar music styles that appeal to young teenagers in love. The music business is one that has always favored making as much profit as possible and predicting which songs would would hit the big time. Marketing is the department of business that has to produce products and appeal to target audiences and maximize profits through sale strategizes to create a successful image and style for a company. In the book Rockin’ In Time, it states that girls woke up and fell asleep to images and merchandise that was marketed to young girls, “All told, the fan could buy seventy-eight different Elvis Presley products that grossed about $55 million by December 1957.” These seventy-eight different products included: Elvis themed clothes, posters, jewelry, beauty products, board games, sodas and pillows.
