My Political Ideology

As discussed in class on Tuesday, most of our political views are formed over time by more external entities than personal favor. It may stem from the influence of family, school, location, or religion among other things. This formation is particularly due to the people that surround an individual and with such a wide array of opinions, persuasion is bound to convince a young mind. Particularly for me, I found most of my influence stems from family, religion, and location to be the primary guidance in my political ideology. Growing up with an involved family, a country community, and strong Catholic undertones have worked together to shape both my political inclination and personal integrity. Being raised in a predominately Hispanic household worked hand in hand with the conservative views I hold today. I was taught to value all life, take care of what has been granted to me, and help those with less than myself. For these reasons, I tend to disagree with abortions, support the need for immediate action in climate change, and improving the conditions of Wall Street. My view on abortion come from my belief that all life should be cared for and cherished which finds its basis in my religious inclination. Wall Street currently holds an image of both greed and pride in which are both traits that are considered vile in the Catholic faith. They are inhabited by thieves with few scruples and, until there is change, will continue to impose its reign of financial abuse. Lastly, we are to take care of what was granted to us through God and for that reason, I support the initiatives to create a more sustainable environment.
